With all the opt outs and specifically jumping from team to team for money, I suggest a new name for these portal student athletes: NCAA Mercenaries. They have no allegiance to any team, form no bonds with the other players, likely take worthless courses in college and learn nothing to better their future lives. They simply jump from team to team sell their skill sets to the highest bidder. They fit the true definition of a mercenary. I for one am glad Clemson does not participate in this. Last night at the Orange Bowl, we all saw what the effect of hiring these non affliated mercenaries could do to any program.
