Just thinking about Morris and if he were to leave...

I think if Clemson has a very good year this year, and Texas has another down year...we could see Chad taking over the Longhorns program.
Since losing the national championship in 2009, the Longhorns have gone 22-16 (58% win). For a program of that stature, that's simply unacceptable.
They're supposed to be much improved this year and, if they live up to expectations, could be looking at a 10-2 11-1 record this year. However if they don't live up to expectations, would any of you be surprised to see Mack get the boot? On top of that, would any of you be surprised to see Texas come calling for Chad if that position were open?
I think it would be wise of us to cheer for Texas' success this year, because that position is one that cannot be turned down.

you see texas hiring morris if nc state or tt didnt? they have to land a high profile winner and do it quick. ta&m is causing them a lot of competition and they dont like it. this imo will and must be mb last year, win or lose.

Win or lose? If Texas goes 12-1 or 11-2 and wins the Big XII, Mack isn't going anywhere.
He's proven he's a very good coach, but he's had a few rough years. He's been to two NC's and won one. They're not going to part ways with him if he continues to be successful.

Possibly...but if the Tigers have another hot year offensively (and there's no reason to think they won't), I think it would be enough for Texas to take the chance.

Just to put into perspective how bad the past three years were for the Longhorns:
2010-2012: 22-16 (57.9% win) 2001-2009: 101-16 (86.3% win)
From 2001 to 2009 the Longhorns never had more than 3 losses or less than 10 wins in a single season. Pretty impressive.

i don't see Texas hiring a man with NO HC experience. What I could see happen is Texas go after Ole Miss coach Freeze....this is his 2nd HC stop and if he shows inprovement again like last year, and he should with the talent level they are getting down there...
Remember these two teams meet sep 14 in Texas. If Ole Miss beats UT or even gives them heck, there will be some longhorns watchin....
If Clemson wins or even plays for the title. I could see Morris going to Ole Miss to replce freeze, possibly.
After Tajh leaves, even with chad kelly, it could be a great time for Chad M. to go. I believe He has been around long enough to help Jeff Scott be ready to play calling. I would be willing to give Jeff scott a year or two to see how productive we could be.

I think the money would be good enough and the prestige high enough to drive him there. I hope you're right obviously, since I want him to be here as long as possible.

They were going to give the job to Will Muschamp, who didn't have head coaching experience, before he left for UF.
Don't be so sure.

My point was he didn't have an HC experience (though he has tons of experience otherwise). You can't be so sure Texas wouldn't hire someone without HC experience.

That's the difference. Muschamp was a coordinator for a loooooooong time and was mentioned every time there was a HC vacancy. CM is still new to the college ranks. Personally, I think he's here to welcome Deshaun Watson to Clemson. Then, he's pretty much obligated to fulfill his promise.

1. Texas will not hire a coach without HC experience. 2. Dabo secured Chad by paying him more than most low profile programs pay their HC. There are only a handful of HC jobs that pay more than a million 3. Chad only leaves for A&M, TT, Baylor, Fla, Maybe OU. Don't think any of those come up for a while 4. Chad has already given his word to Watson if he comes he stays 4 yrs. I believe Chad to be a strong man of his word. 5. If Watson comes there will be another BCS Championship in our future, at which point CU will make Morris the highest paid Asst in history. He's not really hankering to leave. Already said being a HC is not a "must" for him.

1. As I mentioned before, UT was going to hire Muschamp who had no head coaching experience. Granted, he has an incredible amount of overall experience, but he wasn't a head coach.
2. University of Texas could quadruple Chad's current salary without blinking.
3. Again, even though Chad is an A&M grad, I don't see him turning down UT. It's too big, too powerful, too prestigious.
4. I hope you're right.
5. Chad has openly said he wants to be a head coach. I don't think he's going to go to any ol' place, but he's going to leave eventually...though I hope not anytime soon. I hope you're right about his promise to Watson, and hope Watson comes haha.

He picks players from an area just about the size of the entire southeast. He doesn't recruit, he doesn't have to.

begins with taking a 17 year old Watson for his word. Recruits never lie or change their decision do they? ;P
I think people or so worried because what we have at Clemson is special and it is only getting better and better. No one wants this ride to come to an end and if an integral cog leaves this team, no one knows of the severity to which it will affect the success of our program. Wish we could keep everyone in their place for the next ten years but unfortunately, that just isn't going to happen...

the playbook, but there's a lot more to it than just the Xs and Os. He's a great coach and (most of the time) a great play caller. You can't duplicate someone's creativity or personality. We could hope to hire an excellent coordinator, but we could never duplicate CM. Still, it's a nice problem to have.
