Lets say for arguments sake that we win our last 2 home games and finish 21-10. We finish at 13-7 and 7th place in the ACC ( which is what I predict). We play a 10 seed on day 2 of ACC Tourn. and win. Then we play a 2 seed on 2nd night and win which makes us 23-11. We lose in the semifinals on friday leaving us at 23-12 and NIT bound ( if we accept? ). 23-12 is a pretty good d--n year ! You folks honestly think that we can attract a Coach to do any better at a FB crazed school year in and year out ? Be serious folks.

Flexing about total wins when you played the worst schedule arguably in the history of the program is a bad look. Any year without making the NCAA tournament is not a good year.

I am afraid if your expectations of Clemson basketball is an NCAA berth every year you are going to be eternally disappointed. It's simply not an easy thing.

It’s a perfectly reasonable standard to expect a 13th year head coach to have reached the point that you make the tourney more often than not. Our previous coach built a team that made it 4 straight times in half the time Brownell has had.

That wasn’t part of the discussion. If you would like to discuss winning NCAA tournament games then even non-paying members, such as yourself, have the privilege. Please be sure to use the basketball board.

My expectation is that we do better than 2 times out of 13 years and if we can't get better with the current coach then maybe it really is time to try something different.
You know what they say about doing the same things and expecting a different result. But doing things the same way because you don't have enough persistence to even try is even worse.

Dude are you serious right now? We were 10-1 in acc play and just lost to at the time 3 win UL. We have had 3 terrible quad 4 losses to teams we should mop the floor with. It’s not just this year for past 10 out of 12 season we have seen a collapse one way or another. We had 1 good sweet 16 team. Coach BB has had more resources and better facilities then any other clemson b-ball coach even came close to. So yes I do think with the winning programs we have at Clemson, we can find a coach to get us to the tourney more than 3 times in 12 years. Sorry not sorry Go Tigers!!!

An experienced veteran coach is simply NOT goint to come to Clemson and play second fiddle to football. A young coach " might" but it's another unproven commodity. Maybe it works maybe not but I'm more concerned about a lil word called INTEGRITY more !! We have that now.

A upcoming coach is maybe who we need. I just know it’s not BB I mean 12 years is more than enough time, not like the man is on year 3 after a sweet 16 showing. We need new blood and life into this program.

We may not do better, but we could get close to the same as we have now, but for a lot less $$$$$ per year be we sure as H E L L are not getting $2 million dollars worth of wins from Brownell!!!! He has probably already in his 13th season put in his bank account close to or more than #25 million bucks. That much money$$$$$ should have gotten us a couple of ACC championships, or at least runner ups, and at least 7-8 NCAA tournament appearances even if they were mostly 2-3 wins each time we were invited. We have one NCAA tournament invite with the prior coaches players, and he has made it to the sweet 16 once, IMHFO, Clemson administration, and the Clemson fan base that gives to IPTAY, or buys a ton of Clemson gear that Clemson in some way get a percentage of, we all have been ripped the h e l l off with what little amusement we've gotten from watching a Brownell coached team.
We must as Clemson fans cut Judge Keller a little slack bc if he still believes in Brownell, that only means that something in his brain has been tilted bc, Judge Keller is a pretty good person, and a very solid Clemson man, but all Clemson folks aren't perfect, not even me as much as I love our Clemson Tigers!!!

Not making the NCAA this year, with this team, would be a huge underachievement. Question: Why would we consider declining an NIT invitation?

How many teams are in NCAA that can be invited to the Big Dance? If we aren't one of the top 68 programs in the USA every year, we seriously might need to change coaches, you think?

at winning the REAL meaningful title at the end of your season. Now, if the NIT Champ one year was guaranteed an at large slot in the Big Dance the NEXT year, then it might be worth it. But only then.

We'll certainly never find out if we don't try. If you're happy being middle to lower in the ACC most years and make the NCAA tournament every 3-4 years, then Brad's your man. I would rather take the risk and hire a coach who could make us improve our consistency. Losing 3 quad 4 games blows!!!

Making the NCAA Tournament is maybe

slightly more difficult than making a bowl game as, historically, a comparable number of ACC teams have made each.
Brownell, however, is in Year 13. The fact that we even consider making the NCAA Tournament every few seasons a success barometer is, in my opinion, sad. Then you look at his NCAA Tournament success in those seasons he did make it, and he's been past the Round of 64 just one time!
Brownell took over a program that had made the NCAA Tournament 3 straight times, and they made it a 4th straight time in his first season. He should have been fired after 2013-2014 when they missed the NCAA Tournament 3 straight years. How he made it past 2016-2017 (6 straight seasons without an NCAA Tournament appearance) still amazes me.
We have 3 NCAA Tournament appearances in 12 seasons, and it's looking like it will be 3 in 13 seasons. (and even our last NCAA Tournament appearance in 2020-2021 might need an asterisk as we went into the NCAA Tournament at 16-7 (10-7), but we had 4 road games (and just 1 home game) canceled.)
I like Brownell, but, to me, he's simply not successful enough to remain the coach of this program.
