slow talking, Southern accent inflected native of the tarheel state who could pitch his rear-end off too.....Jim "Catfish" Hunter....a gentleman I had the pleasure of meeting on a couple of occasions through the NC Sports Hall of Fame.....who passed away far too early
Seeing Baumgardners name on list of post-season success wedged between legends like Christy Matthewson and Whitey Ford is remarkable. He initially committed to unc out of HS and I'm glad the Tigers never had to face him on a college field
As good as the Cubs have been all year long, they'd best hope they don't have to face Baum in a series deciding game.
BTW---Syndergaard looked outstanding last night too
I thought Bum was gonna eventually get hit hard leaving the ball up in the zone, but he kept everyone off balance. And ur right, Syndergard threw a gem too.
"There's something in these hills and I suspect that's what it is - the ability of an institution through the unending dedication and greatness of its people - its administration, its faculty, its staff, its students and alumni - to impart to all it touches a respect, an admiration, an affection that stands firm in disquieting times when things around it give impressions of coming unglued." - Joe Sherman '34
