this basketball thing figured out.....
Either the pressure by Neff - or - the use of the portal - has provided the combination of talent and coaching that shows in this team.
This is a good basketball team - just would like to know what caused the turn-around.

PJ Hall + JG3 = tenured leadership on the court. Been a while since CU had 2 players with that kind of BB IQ on the court and the same time.

So you think the difference is CBB? Hint: CBB is a good coach and we are now supporting him with staff, facilities and NIL.

It took 14yrs and $163mil. I am super glad for success. I hope it continues after PJ.
I wonder what Dabo could do if we gave him that $163mil? I bet he would have made 10x more money for the university? Facts are facts.

The ROI has always been higher for football at Clemson. The thing is if you want a winning basketball program, it cost money. We can either fund it and enjoy the success or accept an average team but it’s one or the other.

I agree! Dabo didn't get rich without an investment. Brad has been given top 10 investments in last 5yrs. I want him to be Coack K, but if we have more NIT losses, Creighton fiascos, what are excuses.
Our bball deserves to be a tournament team majority of the time. No more excuses.

Replacing our facility was a necessity, not an investment so we have not been top 10 but have improved. Coach K was great because Duke had a process in place, including shoe companies, which paid players before it was legal. Our bball team has never been in the tournament every year and every team has upsets.
I realized after I typed a response you must be a troll but here goes anyway

A troll? C'mon man, you know I been around here long enough to not be trolling. Call me a coot, that makes you part of the family.
That said, I have never bashed Brownell as a person or Clemson mentor as I think he is a great leader of young men. But I definitely think he has had some horrible coaching mistakes and I was ready for a change last year. I know we have hired some great assistants and our team looks to be very solid. I hope we win it all this year but the reserved side of me still makes me speculative. My major concern is if we have a good year with PJ, what happens next year when we start all over again. CBB hasnt shown consistent play year over year but I hope he proves me wrong, that will make me happy!

It's almost like brownell is a good coach, and when he has a veteran led group of well developed 3 and 4*s, we can compete with anybody.
The good news is his best class (that is on campus to date are only sophomores. Scheif has another year, and we currently have the 17th best recruiting class coming in. Sorry to break it to you, but we should be good for a few more years! That's what investing in facilities and assistants can do.

We have a veteran team with a very good bench. Im not sure brownell "figured anything out". The more talent he has, the better we will perform. It aint rocket science.

a basketball coach can screw up a good team, he can mess up the chemistry, destroy confidence, not get them in shape, weak on drills, and bad on scheming... i have seen this done on many levels of bball , from rec league to high school to travel ball to college....

What impresses me most is the development of Hall and Wiggins.
Specifically Wiggins. He’s a naturally decent scorer, but has obviously improved and has helped us in clutch situations like being down against USUCK at home and igniting the comeback.

We have a huge upgrade in our asst coaches. Investigate if you want but we have good asst coaches.
It is just like football, hopefully we see the same! Jk will be mad!

We certainly have an upgrade in coaches but the guy coaching the bigs the last couple of years is Bender who’s been on CBB’s staff a long time. He also coaches the offense.

I can’t tell you how important it was for Neff to approve an increased budget for assistants soon after he became AD. The approval for a new basketball facility is big as well.

Happy for the success, but I want to see multiple years in a row. It seems every few years he puts together a tournament team, but is unable to maintain that level.

I call him the cicada coach, every 13 years they show up, make noise and disappear for another 13 years. If Brad did not get hit by lightning, read a book on coaching basketball or get hit by a coconut - then he did not change. When looking at who someone is, you don’t look at just their highs, nor lows - you look at their total work product. We know who Brad is and where he will go over time. We can simply enjoy the team and PJ. Because soon enough Brads averages will return.

The old saying “one robin doth not make a spring” applies to CBB this year. Show me several years in the top 20 and the play offs and i might become a believer.

I think the big thing he needs to prove is that he can build momentum and string together multiple good years where we make the tourney. And certainly not flip this year. You hate for him to be under pressure but he has made his bed.

If a coach hangs around long enough, he’ll eventually bump into a good team. For Brownell looks like it’s once every seven years.
