Living in cootlumbia...

Sep 12, 2014, 10:28 AM

I have a lot of interaction with these mouth breathers. My favorite interaction, and yea sometimes I enjoy hearing them crow so that they can be quieted, with them comes when one of them working a bojangles or rushes says something to me because I'm wearing my orange on Friday. I really enjoy letting them know, after I have my food, that I wear orange cause I'm proud of the school I went to, to get my education, so that I wouldn't have to work in a fast food restaurant...

Curious if anyone else enjoys this type of interaction with a coot.

I appreciate the English lesson, just like everyone else here does. I'm sure you still got the point of the sentence.

Thank you very much though, I feel like I have learned something today.

And you're supposedly in "educational leadership" yet you're by far the biggest moron on this board. Funny how that works.

I knew he wasn't an English major when he said he had a job.***

I live here too and have mixed emotions on the subject

Sep 12, 2014, 10:47 AM

I'm glad people are willing to work, rather than sit home and collect government assistance.

But I also think it is stupid for any business to promote or let their employees promote a college. I do not and will never take my business to the "gamecock builder" or anyone else that advertises based on their gamecock affiliation. How good can they be if they rely on that? How good can they be if they are stupid enough to alienate 1/2 their potential customer base.

So, I usually ignore the workers with the hats, or other stuff but if one says something smart a$$ to me I will ask for or call the manager and let them know what happened and that I will chose to take my business elsewhere and contact the owners if it happens again.

Ok, so... If your at a restaurant where the employees are in orange it's ok but anything else you want visit ???? I'm in NC visit me on a Saturday and check my waitstaff some in tiger orange , some bama , some vols, go heels , you get the point I'm sure, etc. etc. It makes for conversation on gameday nothing more .. And I'm no sports bar . Simple family restaurant never offended anyone yet nor had a complaint because of a shirt or hat .

And I agree with him. School spirit is fine, until you bother me with a smartas$ comment.

If I'm in your establishment to enjoy a meal, your waitstaff wearing school colors is fine. If I'm paying to have a good time and your staff says something to annoy me - I'm letting the management know.

It is not just about sports rivalries either. If they come over and give me a hard time if my family says a blessing - I'll let you know, too.

He said " stupid to let a business or it's employees promote a college " that's what I felt was wrong .. That's way before mention of a comment (about our team or any other team ) !

I never really make fun of people that are employed

Sep 12, 2014, 11:41 AM

and get up and go to work everyday, GOD BLESS THEM. I will admit to using it as a guide to raise my child to go to college, but respect for everyone that is of able mind and body doing what they have to legally to take care of themselves and their family.

I've been in the Columbia area over 40 years due to work,

family, friends, etc., and I never hear trash talk from friends or neighbors who are SC alumni or fans other than lighthearted banter between us.

The occasional off-base comment is usually from some young person, which I ignore or laugh at, depending on the person and manner.

Facts are there are thousands of Clemson alumni and fans in the Metro area, so I see plenty of the Paws and orange all over the city. Living in South Carolina at least in most major towns and cities will find Tigers and Gamecocks mixing.
