Lets talk a little more about the portal

I get it. We definitely should have taken a couple wideouts in 23’ if we could have. Clemson has to maximize the rules or risk falling farther behind. However, I’ll never like it. Any one and done guys we get will not be Clemson men. They will be good athletes in a orange uniform. They will never be like Trevor. Choose Clemson, graduated from Clemson, won a national championship at Clemson, and will forever be an ambassador for Clemson. I guess it is what it is at this point.

We aren’t a program that anyone would want to transfer to, we are a prep program for the elites like UNC and FSU

$ I know the answer to that $. We all need to accept the fact that money will ruin the amateur sports that we enjoy so much. Usually when money is involved the one with the most will come out on top....... and that will not be our a Tigers.

I’m pretty sure Clemson is ranked around 6-7 as far as average nil money per player… Texas am is in first by a lot and how’s that working for them ? We will still get players in the NIL age but we don’t use the portal at all… and I’m not saying that’s why we are where we are I’m just saying imo we don’t have to take 15-20 a year like a lot of schools bc we do recruit and develop talent and that means something … but we could def take 3-4 a year in positions that maybe we didn’t develop as quickly as we thought we would and could help us.

Based on what I read, all the players are paid the same. I saw $40,000. Does Dabo pay extra for a "star" transfer? If he doesn't it may be hard to get the big name.

Recruits come to clemson to find a better landing spot they know we aren’t a serious program with a serious coach

Because they may not think they will be that highly valued and have the same opportunities as other programs who have embraced the portal.

We will see Dabo bring in a place kicker from the portal. He better do something!

Or maybe he will bring in another 3rd string QB.

It seems that in many of the elite portal transfer situations, the player already has a destination home. This suggests that “tampering” is occurring, at least on some level. Do we want to win so bad that we are willing to bend/break some guidelines?
The NIL is obviously a big part of the transfer decision process. As mentioned, we do not have an abundance of wealthy benefactors, so unless we do something different, we will lose potential players to deeper pockets. I wonder how many on TigerNet have actually contributed $$ to our NIL. This is going to have to be our way do it. If fans won’t pay up, then we don’t get the player.

Imagine if this year's team just had #4 Coleman FSU WR. We would be undefeated I would venture to say. Tez UNC is also going to be a load to deal with.

I’d agree with that. If Coleman is in orange we would have beaten FSU. Or if we had a great Portal FG kicker, we would’ve beaten FSU. We just need a couple more pieces. I just hate it’s come to this.
