The new clock rules stink

My first thought when I heard the new clock rules was that there would be more upsets. I didn't think that we would be one of the first victims.

When neither getting out of bounds or getting a first down stops the clock, it leaves only incompletions to stop the clock. We might see teams "clocking" the ball at the end of the 3rd quarter. I would have liked to have seen more downfield passing last night, but rules should not dictate that a team should be throwing hail Mary's with 10 minutes left in the game. The prevent defense is going to be rewarded because a sustained drive will drain too much time from the clock and I am talking early. Maybe I am just crying "sour grapes" but we were virtually out of it when Duke went up 21-7 early in the 4th. The new rules stink and I hope that they fire the idiots who came up with and implemented it.

Nah, I'm in the same boat. I first heard about it watching another game this weekend and thought that it was kind of dumb. Doesn't matter if we don't execute, but it certainly didn't help us last night.

I agree that we still most likely lose with the old rules last night, but we went from being a half yard away from going ahead to desperation time in less than 2 minutes early in the 4th quarter. I just don't see that as a good thing. Even when the rules play to our advantage I won't like it. We should be able to go out and beat teams. I don't like watching us when we try not to lose to them like we did several times last year. I just can't back making that the smart play.

and turnovers are killers. If you are a slow starter or turnover machine, you will lose
