Brad Brownell Is Clemson Basketball...

the media, announcers, and commentators love him. They all brag about his tenure at Clemson. Potential recruits see stability in a program. Does anyone in their right mind think he will be fired in light of this success in the tourney even if we get blown out by Arizona? Learn to love him folks because he aint going nowhere. Go Tigers!

I never thought Brownell would be gone after this season. That said, NO coach is Clemson basketball. No coach is any Clemson team. They provide the leadership and training, but the players put in the work on the court, field, etc. They should get the credit they deserve.

Cliff Ellis saying "I am Clemson Basketball". So i was being somewhat tongue in cheek with a reference to that. But the argument can be made and certainly the broadcast teams are advancing that theme, although they havent specifically used that verbage, imho

Bill Wilhelm Established Modern Clemson Baseball, and set the standard! Not Leggett.
Dabo revived the Danny Ford level of excellence in Football at Clemson, and improved it! John Heisman set the standard for winning football at Clemson. Plus he established the Orange and Purple….
Basketball still needs to build a legacy program….. Brownell has a chance, if we improve and win a big Tournament!
Go Tigers! Beat Arizona!

Love your list, But you have Zep too far down your list! Should call it top 5 foreign bands from the 1960’s, mostly British.
Your top 5 only have one American from the US? A drummer from Arkansas.

Martin once told about his young granddaughter, and her infatuation with a current group, The Bay City Rollers. When he mentioned The Beatles, she asked him, "Who were they, were they as good as The Bay City Rollers?" He simply smiled, and said, "Probably not."

Agree his career and our history are similar. It would be foolish of Clemson to fire him after this year. I am not a Brownell fan but maybe this years success in the tournament will help him in recruiting and he can build off of this year.

I have always thought that. We have never, to the best of my recollection, had a coach here that I did not like ...... none ..... but I have never liked any of them better than I like Clemson. I have NEVER wished any of them to fail so they could be fired. I pulled for Red Parker's and Hootie Ingrham's teams just as much as I pull for Dabo's teams. I think much of this discord about coaches stems from a few here that love the coaches more than they do Clemson ...... and that is sad.

Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney said it best when he said, and I quote "Clemson is bigger than any coach, any player. This is Clemson!" after our bowl win against Iowa State.
Truer words have never been spoken.

I've read here that Clemson is what it is because of Dabo. Not just our football program, but Clemson University and the city of Clemson as well. We owe it all to Dabo.
Is that no longer true?!?

My dad used to tell us kids that all of us are precious but none of us are indispensable. He meant that we should try to treat everyone with respect, but none of us should be under the misapprehension that we are indispensable.

True . . . but can we still say so when we see recurrent problems . . .

or will that still be reflexively reduced to being a "hater"?
For the record, I see a lot of positives and don't at all think firing him would have been be all, unmitigated upside - not even close. And, at the same time, I don't see his term as so overwhelmingly successful that the way forward was positive without what happened at the end of this season. It was a close call, and BB saved his job. Probably justifiably so, but it was close.
Let's not forget that just a couple of wins seems to have a massively disproportionate psychological effect on whether or not a firing is considered "feasible" in PR terms. Imagine if Clemson had laid an egg vs NM, or had lost, say, one or two more close games towards the end of the year and not made the dance. Now we're talking about a relatively small difference over the span of 14 years being the difference between firing or not. The skewed temptation is - after two tournament wins - to suddenly conclude that the prospect of parting ways with Coach Brownell was always an unquestionably silly prospect. But it wasn't. It seems that way now b/c, after all, "who fires a guy that just went to the sweet sixteen?" But we all know he was on thin ice after the last few years, and they seemed to flirt with that possibility at times this year, right up through BC and even the last 6 min vs. Baylor. Blowing a 15 point lead down to 3 in 4 minutes is too familiar a style under BB.
But good for him. They got over the proverbial hump. But it was tense at times.

they are people filling the roles in life at that specific time.
I am at work in Charlotte doing what I can do to help those in my area light their world with wonderful lights in their business/home/field/gym/airport as needed.
We all have a unique role on Earth and we are all important.
Nobody is Clemson except Clemson University and it shines as a beacon of beauty, structure, stability, and Football Saturdays in those hills that make it the best place on Earth. Nothing else like it and very little even comes close.

There is a reason for that.
They see what a genuine guy he is, how great his personality is, and what an outstanding coach he is.
It's too bad many of our fans think he's just a boring dude who can't coach basketball.
