He is probably tired of putting up with our ####. I think we have been pretty hard on him as a fanbase.

He ran two NFL programs and did well. I think he'll be OK.

i hope he extends
we were hard on him based on the fact that as fans we thought we were settling for mediocrity
thats clearly not the case now..
we weren't always able to go down to florida and grab as many top recruits as we wanted..all the upgrades that were approved and the new coaching hires have boosted our program alot
hes had a big part in all that

Overall TDP has been very good for Clemson, IMO.

Not perfect, but none of us are. Dabo and Brownell are pretty good hires. OP was no slouch.

and even nationally relevant (not championshp caliber, but we could play with any team in the country) for a few years, but he let success get too content, we blew a fair ammount of games that we had a 15 point lead in the 2nd half including a NCAA tourney game.

I have long been a critic of TDP although I will admit his "second hires" have generally been much better than his first. He's done well with the "big two" (football and men's basketball), but I've long contented that he has harmed many of the non-revenue sports:
Women's Basketball: Fired a Clemson legend, made a horrible replacement hire, got it right the second time Men's Soccer: See Women's Basketball Men's Tennis: May or may not need the second hire phenomenon, but still fired a legend Men's Track: Fired a legend, still not back to where he was Women's Soccer: Maybe the 3rd or 4th hire (or whatever he is on now) will be a charm. I can't remember if the Leones left before or after TDP arrived, but we haven't been right in that program since.
I think TDP has elevated the Football and Men's Basketball programs since he has been here and I understand the argument that that is what counts. However, it's challenging to name other sports that have improved since he arrived. Probably women's track and rowing. Volleyball, golf, women's tennis, and baseball are pretty stable. Most of the other sports have gone downhill with soccer, women's basketball, and men's track being the most disappointing. Those are sports we used to be year-in-year-out contenders in that we have been also-rans recently.

Maybe he was actually a big proponent of us moving to the Big 12 (because of his connections)and couldn't muster Clemson's support. I'd probably let my contract expire too.
I think he has done a great job at Clemson btw.
