Just My Opinion on Clemson & Realignment …

It is and always will be one program/brand and one program/brand only - Notre Dame (& NBC & Streaming Package Opps & Extra $). To keep the ACC alive and intact, it falls on ND. Not Stanford, Cal or SMU. No ND? Fold the tents and let the 2 super conferences form. ND joins, IMO, the revenue package per team can be reworked and the ACC can close that $ gap with the SEC and Big 10, however, probably never overtake. Clemson and FSU stay. The ACC can potentially move to a more predatory position of poacher of bigger brands than Cal and SMU. I’ll give you Stanford at #16, but only if that seals the deal with ND.

My preferences:

1. ACC | Add ND. Rework the revenue per team deal. Eliminate the GOR. Sorry Phillips and ACC leadership, you hid behind the GOR. You got complacent and failed in proactive leadership leading to the mess you made. No GOR means you have to work harder at all times to produce good opps/results to keep all ACC programs happy and not wanting to leave. ACC still sits on massive US population. Fox wants it. ESPN wants to maintain it, but poor Disney leadership decisions have them bleeding $. ESPN is hiding behind the GOR for now IMO.

2. SEC | Although today, the BIG 10/Fox $ payout is insanely larger, Clemson has the feels of an SEC program. Always has. All sports would benefit from this move as they stay in a more regional footprint. Better rivalries. Better mid week travel for the student athlete, fans and parents. I know my TigerNet buds will potentially disagree here, but it needs to be Clemson, FSU, UNC & UVa. The SEC would be wise to find the $ to block Big 10/Fox. Pretty obvious what they are trying to do - landlocked the SEC and tap into recruiting hotbeds.

3. Big 10 | Insane $. Not sure Clemson needs to be in a conference with UCLA and Nebraska. If this happen, again, it needs to be the same four programs/brands to keep some regional/Pod opportunity intact. IMO. Not my favorite option, but one I could pivot to provided we have former ACC partners join with us. Clemson with that payout with traditional recruiting opps in the SE, up/down east coast and nationally would be potentially crazy.

Never has the Paw brand been bigger than in the last 10 years. As big as ND joining would be to ending all this, Clemson leaving is equally big as well. Clemson has carried the ACC for the last 10 years, not the former great program in Tally. Not a dig and certainly hope they get back to greatness. This is Clemson’s time to lead. My hope they are doing so quietly in the shadows. IMO, Clemson Prez and AD need to meet with ND counterparts and force the issue. IMO, Clemson, FSU & ND are the combo that if collaborative, position the ACC into super conference #3. If ND continues to say nay, shake their hand, tell them good luck and put the ACC in the rear view mirror. ND must also realize that 2 super conferences mean 9 to 10 conferences game and and a potential difficult time finding meaningful CFP worthy games being independent. ND’s independence is ending.

Just my opinions. Moonpies and RCs to You & Yours,

Clemp

Excellent post. I agree with

Everything you say and my preferences are the same. But there is one thing that I think is going to be a problem even in your best case scenario. I believe FSU has crossed the Rubicon based on their actions of last week. I dont see them staying even if scenario #1 of Notre Dame joining happens.

ND will not take a cut in pay.

That's not happening. It's the same reason Duke, Wake...and the other charity cases in the ACC won't let the GOR die.

One doesn't need to study economics to understand that.

Lawd but Tigernet has missed you!

And they don't even know it!

Only problem with your post is that it's 100% common sense. That's a rare commodity these days.

Now if we could get a completely inane reply from Centennial Tiger
my day would be complete.

Hope you're doing well!!

Agree on all points w/ one exception…

The SEC is NOT a conference we should aspire to emulate and I don’t want anything to do with that organization.

1) Would rather see the ACC survive and thrive as a best first option.

2) B1G would be the less desirable fall-back should we be forced to abandon the ACC

For all these so-called “smart” people we supposedly have in this conference, They certainly have not been very “smart” when it came to positioning the ACC in this very reactionary place.

One correction I would make regarding your SEC comment that all sports would benefit. Not all - SEC has no men’s soccer.
