Last week when Dabo said he hated to have to tell Tim Tebow

Aug 14, 2016, 5:51 PM

that we were backing of recruiting him because we had promised another QB that if he committed we would not offer another QB in his class. Obviously that QB was Willie Korn. There were five Qb's invited to The Opening that year and they were the consensus top five in the nation. I know three of them were Willie Korn, Stephen Garcia, the kid from CA that went to Notre Dame (can't recall his name), and two more. I do remember the ND commit did not attend The Opening.

Anyone remember the ND guy's name and who the other two were? I'm curious how the other two did in college.

Korn got injured and therefore didn't pan out, Garcia was, at best, so-so, the ND guy did not lead them back to,glory.

Just wondering.

If so, my bad. That raises another question, who

was the Clemson commit?

It was Korn, he was a junior

Bowden promised him they wouldn't sign a qb in the class before him.

But we did sign a QB in the class before Korn.***

Hindsight is 20/20 and it sucks that we lost out on

a possible title with Tebow, Spiller, JD, Jacoby, Gaines, Aaron Kelly, etc, but let's not forget that Korn was a stud in HS and a highly sought after recruit. That's just how the game works. Plus at that time, if we offer Tebow and he still goes to UF, but Korn gets mad about a broken promise and commits somewhere else, Bowden's in more hot water because he lost the QB that at the time was believed to be the savior of the program
