i think pitt is better than both but was curious whether people thought wake was better than the coots.

They are substantially better according to S&P+.

Football Outsiders - which has by far the best math-nerd formula, way more accurate than ESPN's "FPI" - has the Gamecocks at 88th...just two spots ahead of the Idaho Vandals, two spots below Chad Morris's SMU squad.

They have Wake at #72.

Both teams have comparably awful offenses - South Carolina is #114 overall at just 347.2 yards per game - a statline buffed by yesterday's 588-yards explosion against 2-8 FCS Western Carolina (466 of which they got on the ground with simple handoffs, mostly to Rico Dawdle); Wake comes in at #124 overall at just 308.5 yards per game but that also factors in that they just got 197 total yards against Clemson the other day; take those two results out and it's pretty much a wash.

They're about dead-even in total defense. South Carolina ranks 50th overall at 387.6 - they were helped slightly, allowing ONLY 31 points and 346 total yards to Western Carolina, whereas Wake rates 51st nationally allowing 388.5. (It's worth noting this is AFTER Wake Forest has played us, Louisville, and Florida State, too.)

I don't doubt we'll get their best shot, but they are...outgunned. To put it mildly.

Yes. Defensively much better, but offensively about the same.

I think they are about as equal as teams can get.
Both won 6 games vs very bad teams .
Both have young QBs with no other help on Offense
Both have decent Ds
The only advantage is that Wake has better Coaches.
I think if they played it would be a close ugly game.
