In the history of the NCAA tournament, has there ever

Mar 14, 2023, 2:19 PM

In the history of the NCAA tournament, has there ever been a situation where a 22 win team defeated an 11 seed three times in the regular season and conference tournament and still failed to make the NCAA tournament field?

There has never been a team to make it as an at-large...

With 2 Q4 losses or 4 Q3/Q4 losses. I know that without a doubt. So we have to win those games to make the Tourney.

Beat Loyola-Chicago, SCAR, Louisville and we are sitting at 26-7 and probably a 5 or 6 seed. Our own fault. We were not screwed. We screwed ourselves.

Then why/how did Pitt and NC State get in with losses to a team that had 2 Q4 losses 4 Q3/Q4 losses.

To add further clarity, when you have one of the easiest schedules in the country then the committee does not give you the same credit for good wins as they do for bad losses.

So the three wins over NCSU, the win over Pitt, Duke, Penn State, doesn’t count,?? Why.

Doesn't work that way foresttiger. It would be impossible. You have 350 teams playing 30+ games a year. Roughly 12,000 games. I'll gladly post the formula again if anyone would really like to know... or not if you're just posting to get frustration out.

Unfortunately the decision was made via algorithms developed by some nerd that didn't realize a basketball was round and bounced.

Sure, they count. But they without some more wins against higher ranked teams, those were not enough to offset the losses to Loyola-Chicago, SCAR, and Louisville. Heck, even not losing to Louisville would likely have been enough to get us in.

Utah State and Texas A&M both have 2 Q4 losses

and both made the tournament this year as at-large selections.

Without looking, I'm guessing their SOS was much stronger than ours...

And I think both got to their respective conference championship games which is what I felt we needed to do as well...

I stand corrected...Still don't think there has been a team

with 4 Q3/Q4 losses though.
