Tiger in trouble following Hurricane Irma [6] Posted: Sep 10, 2017 7:52 AM Reply
Good morning. Ryan Mottl's (Tiger Baseball 1997 to 2000) dad here and wanted to let people know who I am not normally in touch with that Ryan, who lives and works in St. John, USVI, has survived a very close encounter with Hurricane Irma as she came in and essentially destroyed a wonderful place on Wednesday. Ryan and his fiancé hunkered down in the home of friends spending the worst four hours in a basement bathroom with a mattress blocking the window. When they emerged hours later it was to find their paradise like island essentially destroyed as were many Caribbean Islands. Even with everyone joy at learning of them being ok we were all shocked the next day when they were able to start to move around a little and returned to their home only to find that the only thing left of the home was the master bedroom. They continue to be ok and since Ryan works at the resort they have been able to move there until things begin to sort themselves out on the island. They lost their home and essentially 100% of their belongings and are expected to be without power for an extended period of time, possibly several months. With communication being severely limited I have yet to be able to speak to Ryan but hope to soon so I can identify the best way to support them and to support St. John. Thanks,

So glad they are ok. My wife's family lost everything in Hurricane Camille, they only had the clothes on their back. We understand how difficult it can. Sending our prayers.
