and is capable of beating anyone in the country.
Line our guys up against ANY team in the country right now, and I’m taking Clemson.

What about our offense makes you think this?

Our defense can certainly play with anyone in the country but our offense is pitiful in yards per play and doesn't stand a chance against any elite defense.

But we scored 42 points against Georgia Tech's elite defense. They rank in the top 130 in many defensive categories.

Imo, it's more about our QB than whatever defense we face.

Cade has nearly mastered the two step drop and quick throw to a receiver crossing the field just beyond the LB position. He is hitting guys in stride now which is something we have not seen since TL ran our offense.
Couple that with him now being able to locate his first checkdown receiver after staring at his primary and disrupting the zone coverage of the safeties and we gotta offense again.
That's what we've been missing early the season and throughout last year with DJ ewe. Cade started showing signs of being able to hit a target moving laterally earlier in the season but often threw behind the receiver or high which caused interceptions.
He hit 3 of those passes against ND and absolutely nailed a bunch of them against GT which left GT's coaching staff not knowing whether to chit or go blind. I mean, he went 6 for 6 on one scoring drive which should have changed everyone's minds about our offense.
I expect our secondary receivers to run cleaner routes and be more proficient at getting free since they can now see that Cade knows where they are.
I understand this is an insult to Cade to compare his early play this season to DJ, who couldn't find his asz with a flashlight and GPS, but to me it signifies that he is showing what he will be next season.

I don't think he has been the main issue this year- but any improvement is encouraging. I'm just not ready to get my hopes up and imagine us being competitive with a top ten team. I'll just be happy with a win over the Gamecocks.

Everyone has a right to their opinion.

We'll see how Cade does tomorrow. I appreciate that two consecutive examples do not establish a trend. However, with the last two games, the second being even better than the first, I'm extremely confident that the OP is correct, Clemson has grown back to our expectations.
My concern is not that others don't feel this way but that some relish the opportunity to whine and complain about my football program. It's a bit like church or God, I say it and He are mine not because either belongs to me but because I am theirs.
I am a selfish servant.

I think all would agree that the last game was Cade's best of the season

and we still had less than 6 yards per play (5.7).....that's a far cry from being able to stay on the field with a UGA offensively. A lot more has to get better for this offense to compete at the highest level than just Cade Klubnik.

If we see UGA it will be on the TV, not the field.

Yeah, Georgia is averaging 7.3 YPP and their offense has been improving

a lot as they've gotten key players back from injury and Beck has settled in at QB. Clemson is currently averaging 5.4 YPP according to sports reference. Beck is at 9.4 YPA while Cade is an extremely pedestrian 6.4.
Those are both massive gaps in offensive efficiency.
Our defense has been slightly better, but not nearly enough to make up for the gulf in offensive firepower.
Right now i would expect Georgia to be at least a 2 TD favorite over Clemson on a neutral field.

I made no mention of other teams.

If you are going to contradict me perhaps challenging something I've said might bear more fruit. Changing the subject will not.

So quote me on claiming success over anyone.

My claim to our success is that our QB, as are all QBs, the very foundation of our team. When Cade fails, everyone on the team knows it. WR's in secondary role never get a look because he, just like DJ, waits for the primary to get open. Our line is exhausted from trying to hold blocks for six seconds and the other defense knows who he's going to throw the ball to if he even throws it all all.
Threes and outs by our offense would kill even the best defenses. Our opponents' defenses get plenty of rest and our defense gets worn down almost to dysfunctional.
Perhaps you can show me where my thinking is wrong. I'd accept a reasonable response but you're trying to pick a crow for which you have no pot in which to put the feathers.
You're arguing with someone else, someone who can't provide anything but a opinion without justification.

Night to say Clemson would “beat the crap” outta Jawja is kinda ignorant; to say you think we can beat them is reasonable. We have enough talent to compete with anyone we’ve just made too many stupid mistakes this year to have the season we wanted.
We appear to have a lot of posters here who are Clemson football fans, but not also college football fans. They don’t watch other schools play unless we are playing em so they don’t have a realistic estimation of our team vs others. That’s what your post last night typified.

I also think they are capable of losing to mediocre teams. Just depends on which team shows up.

Positive outlook only goes so far and the facts lead to a different conclusion because there is a huge difference between good and great.
