That shot should have been saved. U.S. Keeper was positioned properly with the wall covering the left (Messi's left) post and him positioned towards the right side of the goal. Your job as the keeper here is to not get beat on the right side. If he dips it over the wall and scores on the left, so be it, but you can absolutely not let anything past on the right side. You can see when Messi hits it, the keeper thinks he is going left and starts to lean that way. One of the first things you learn as a GK is never anticipate, just react. If he doesn't anticipate the shot going left and just reacts, he gets an extra step in on his dive and tips it over.
