I'm calling a win over the wuffies. Here's why:

There's been some nervous Nelly-ing about playing the Wuffies at their place on a Thursday night.
Stop it. Just stop it. If I promise nothing else, I promise we will not lose in Raleigh this year.
Why? A couple of reasons come immediately to mind. First, the Wuffies just aren't that good this year. New HC, new QB, new defensive secondary coach, new faces up and down the starting lineup. While I see Dave Doeren as a promising coach, he's not taking Clemson down with a new system and new faces.
Second, Clemson is the first big-time game for the Wuffies. They'll face La Tech and Richmond then have the extra time to prep for Clemson. Prep time helps against gimmicks, (See GTech), but not against an array of talent.
Finally, while us silverbacks still have nightmares about what NC State did to Clemson on Thursday night eons ago, I prefer to place this game in a more recent context....how about Sept. 2011? that's when a wide-open Cincy team absolutely disemboweled the Wuffies 44-14.
If there's pressure on anyone, it's state. All we have to do is take care of business. And I fully expect us to do just that.

get we are way ahead of everyone in the ACC except FSU. I don't know if they are trying to make the other ACC games exciting by building up that nervousness or what, but it is borderline ridiculous.

"dangerous" trap game with BC before the FSU game. That will be a nail biter of a week for some Clemson fans.

we shouldn't. 2012 was the first year in about the last 15 years where we didn't lose a single game that we shouldn't have lost. That's where the angst comes from. I agree that we are way ahead of most everyone else in the ACC except FSU (not all, but most).
NC State is not the game I'm worried about. It's MD after FSU. We haven't fared well over MD in the recent past especially at their place.

While I think he is a terribly inconsistent QB, for whatever reason he always seemed to pick Clemson to have his best games.

Doubtful starters play the last 15 minutes. We may start slow first series or 2 after almost 3 week layoff, but I fully expect the stands to be 1/4 empty to start the 3rd quarter.
There should be no traffic problems getting home that night either.

as a trap game is UVA...this is the sixth Saturday in a row we've played...it's late in the season...on the road...injuries take hold late in a season and it's the second away game in a row. That to me is the game that could be a trap

which is a Division game for them and a completely different type of offense than they'll face against Clemson the following week.
I think it sets-up pretty well for us.

We rarely play well at Maryland and this will be our last trip to College Park. I hope we can go out a big time winner. They may be a good team this year.
