Lexus small suv. Treefiddy maybe? Possibly a '15 model.

Titsbeen blowing through rear brakes. Replaced Oct 2022, Oct 2023, now needs it again.

Work being done by shade tree guy that I trust a lot. He's been doing work for me and for many others I know for 10+ years with no problem.

What in the whirrled is causing this do you reckon?

the ventilation regulators on your brake idler jets have corroded shut and they need to be flushed so that the relay dampers can move freely through the vacuum return cylinders.

It's eating rear brakes using traction control. Means your kid is driving the #### out of it.

Assume you mean its eating pads?

First thing I’d do is check the front pads for evenness /presence of wear.

If they’re malfunctioning in some way, then the rear brakes are doing the majority of the work.

If it were my car I’d bleed the brakes, replace the pads, and disassemble, clean and lube all four calipers. Maybe even rebuild them if corrosion was present.

Problem not totally solved.

He said "HAY BUD, LOOKES LIKE WE GONE NEED TO DO THE FRONT TOO".

Picked up car, taking it back whenever I can to get the front done.

They are actually cleaning and lubing the caliper slides, and not just slapping some pads on. You could easily have a sticky caliper up front causing this issue in the back.

it was the calipers needing cleaning and lubing... they were getting stuck a little and wearing the pads down.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah my son's car had similar too. Front left brake wasn't releasing

and just wore the outer pad completely out super fast. $3 for new slides and good as new.

It's a big reason I prefer doing my own brakes. Aside from it being an insanely easy job, no mechanic is going to do the job I do cleaning and greasing all the parts properly.

I was having this sort of problem with my kid's car and it was how he was driving it.

Check the gas mileage over a couple of weeks.

If it's getting 15 when it should be getting 25 you've found the problem...
