I start getting uneasy about three days...

before the expiration date on milk. Two days before, I can’t enjoy it, even if it’s still good. One day before, down the drain it goes, no questions asked. I just can’t chance it.
Go Tigers.

so if our milk is a couple weeks past expiration, I just tell them I picked up some lemon milk. I won't go anywhere near it, but it's one of their favorite treats and saves me some money as well.
Go Tigers.

Most things are still good for a few days after expiration, milk included. We just finished up a gallon of milk that was 4 days past expiration. No problems. Things like potato chips will taste stale after about a week beyond expiration. Canned goods can go a long time. Smell can determine when its time to toss it in a lot of the food items. However, you have to be smart about it too. Don't mess around with things like eggs and shellfish. I once ate some Penrose sausages that were way out of date when they were sold to me. I didn't notice and was sick as a dog for several days.

This is a good point.
I don't worry about milk spoiling. I drink it right up until it solidifies.
After that I eat it with a spoon.

Local high school Agricultural teacher
May 18, 2021, 5:18 PM
|
|
This Agricultural teacher from the local high school was at our farm last week and we have a cow(dwarf) in the area with out goats. My wife walks by where she was viewing the goats and cow, she looks concerned and says to my wife “do you ever milk the cow, you need to milk her bad”. My wife never missed a beat as she’s walking on by said “it’s a bull, I don’t think he would appreciate that”.
Some times you just have to buy milk...lol

You are disappointing. I only buy organic milk and will

consume it for a week after the expiration date.
The gastric distress which ensues is well-worth the display of my manliness ... more so than lifting 305 pounds and wearing a Clemson shirt at Cateechee while playing golf.

which begs the question.how long after the expiration date is regular cream considered sour.there could be considerable savings to be gotten.

Well we're definitely a like with that, and I'll ever search for the longest date before I'll even buy it from the store. I have taken every gallon out the cooler looking for the latest expiration date, especially if all, or most has the same expiration date. But I will smell it before pouring it out bc, if it's just starting to sour, my wife will make biscuits out of it. But my mom would do the same thing with sour milk, and it does make for some good home made biscuits!!!

As of right now this and Clover's post have the same amount of TUs. I really want to see who gets POTD Francis talking about expired milk or Clover and Vietnam. I would really like to see what the Mods do if there is a tie, and they must pick between the two.
