Our hits yesterday were mostly bloopers and grounders

through the infield. Other team was rocking the ball and fortunately right at our outfielders much of the time. There is a major difference in HITTING!
In the innings we "went with the pitch" we were able to get them on, get them over, get them in. Our problem was that we then started swinging for the fences. 9th inning, down 2 and McGibbon is taking HR cuts as a lead off batter? Dang, slapping it through the gap is good baseball. We needed baserunners. The way we hit in the innings we scored was the exact same way that Carolina hit in the 9th.
We don't have an identity at the plate. We have warning track power and swing for the fences. We don't run the bases all that well and we don't just put the ball in play and sacrifice. Not a good combination.
