I know its an impossible conspiracy theory, but...

Nov 18, 2012, 11:47 AM

It's just unreal an Oregon team, who had been unstoppable, can't move the ball at all and loses to a decent Stanford team at home, followed by K-State losing to a mediocre Baylor team, knocking both out of the MNC picture within an hour of each other.

Guess who will be playing for the crystal egg after they close the coffin lid on Gene Chizk and eviscerate UGA? You guessed it, the $EC and E$PN darling Alabama.

Oregon would be a nightmare matchup for Bama as TAMU demonstrated, so they are out of the way. K-state has a miniscule following, is not attractive nationally, and would also threaten Bama.

Who would be the PERFECT opponent? Right again, beatable Notre Dame with its nationwide popularity. All the Domers need to do is beat a reeling (real) USC team and they are in the big dance. Two defense-centric teams that will play in a 9-12 slugfest with, of course, Bama winning.

This couldn't have played out better for ABC, ESecPN, and the national talking heads. The SEC being left out of the MNC game makes them all look like fools and and threatens the circle of power.

I know this is a lunatic fringe post, but things always seems to work out for the SEC. And don't give me this best confernce crap this year. There are 2-3 teams in the league that are impressive. the rest are mediocre to complete crap.

It's just funny since this huge SEC-ESPN contract was signed, things fall into place for SEC teams. Last year's Bama-LSU match-up was just a slap in the face.

Slimmy Slive is a smart guy...the way he hype's $EC is pure genius. The ACC will never recover from the Swoffie days and will be a non-entity in CFB when FSU leaves.

The reason it works out is because the SEC isn't punished

Nov 18, 2012, 11:55 AM

for losing like everyone else. A loss is a loss I don't care who you are playing. Two loss teams shouldn't still be in the mix with all the good one loss teams out there.

We get to prove that point this weekend. I hope FSU and our Tigers take care of business. There isn't a sample size from OOC play to truly determine if the SEC is that much better than everyone else. ESPN can say they are, I can say they are, you can agree to if you want- but until we play a longer season with more OOC games who really knows.

If all the ACC teams get smacked this weekend by the SEC then I will say they are better than our conference. If Clemson and FSU win we should jump everyone of them except for Bama and I'm not sure FSU wouldn't deserve that leap.

Nov 18, 2012, 12:46 PM

GT were to beat GA and then GA were to beat Bama (along with SCar and UF losses), the whole SEC circle jerk would go limp.

Exactly. The media bias had become a self-perpetuating

Nov 18, 2012, 12:20 PM [ in reply to The reason it works out is because the SEC isn't punished ]

cycle of over ranked teams beating other over-ranked teams, leapfrogging better teams from other conferences, and keeping the circle of power intact. If Clemson were 10-1 and in the SEC, beating, say UK, Vandy, Missou,UT, Miss St, Arky, UGA, and losing to UF, we would be in the top 5 also. That list of wins is not particularly impressive, but "it's the SEC". What a joke.

I've already said it was a crazy suggestion, but if you take a look at college football over the last 7 years, the way the chips fall for the benefit of the SEC undeniable.

At least 6 SEC teams would/can put 40-50 on our D.

Nov 18, 2012, 12:04 PM

Our only hope would be to sustain clock-gouging drives to keep their offenses off the field, which we don't really do as we score quickly like yesterday when scoring drives took less than 2 minutes.

Nov 18, 2012, 12:09 PM

Fair enough, but tell me which of these we would lose:
Arkansas
Kentucky
Vandy
Tenn
Ole Miss
Miss St.
Auburn
Missu
-> 8-0 in that stretch
Toss ups:
UGA
Florida
TAMU
USuC
LSU
Probable Loss:
Bama

I think we beat everybody in the SEC..

Nov 18, 2012, 1:10 PM

.. to be perfectly honest, especially from here on out. This might seem kinda out there but I believe a big reason why our defense gives up so much is that our offense is the best in college football.

& that reason is that people believe they would score more points than us in a head-to-head competition. Our defense is NOT VERY GOOD, sir. I'm sure you witnessed how quickly the pack went from being down 0-13 to being up 24-13.

Which 6? How about the 6 ranked ahead of us in the top ten of the polls?

Do I believe we would beat some of those teams in a game? Sure. I also know that those teams would be successful against us offensively. Do I believe there are unranked SEC teams that would put 40 on us? As much as I'd like to deny that, I must be logically unbiased n' say 'sure'. NC State averages 28.5 pts per game, 19.5 less than what they put on us in our stadium. They lost to a Tennessee team that is ZERO FOR SEVEN in conference play.

Re: I know its an impossible conspiracy theory, but...

Nov 18, 2012, 12:49 PM

It still boils down to CLEMSON and FSU must win this week to show the weakness of the SEC. If we do NOT do that, then all of our arguments are hogwash. We might as well shut up about it unless the ACC can grow a pair. So far - that hasn't worked for us. A horrendous Tennessee, you know - the one that fired their lameazz coach, beat NCSU like a stepchild earlier this year. You know - that same NCSU that just kept on scoring against the 2nd best team in the ACC, and beat the best team in the ACC. Yeah - that same lameazz SEC team. Think about it.

CLEMSON and FSU had better man up. THIS WEEK!!
