I get the whole Clemson has a better chance of winning...

May 21, 2012, 11:25 AM

a NC by going undefeated in the ACC but the question is how will we be able to go undefeated in the ACC or even win a NC when our recruiting will take a major hit. No way we will be able to keep up with the facilities and recruiting that other schools in the bigger conference will be able to have because of more money. Major disadvantage.

Explain to me why ND, with all their $$$ has not had a NC in years or even been competitive in years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not being in a conference has made them irrelevant.

May 21, 2012, 11:34 AM

Don't think they get the same recruits that they once did.

they've had top 10 recruiting classes the past several years. development is really their issue. their schedule (except for 2012) has also been very manageable.

Hasn't ND had rotating coaches in and out of there.

May 21, 2012, 11:40 AM [ in reply to Not being in a conference has made them irrelevant. ]

lower standards after the under the tarnished dome scandal.

their more afraid of the black eye than many schools and they feel they are merely the right coach away. they'll cont to write $15mil checks to get rid of coaches until they find the right one.

maybe they will, maybe they won't.

how much do you need to maintain and improve on

May 21, 2012, 11:38 AM

what we have?

it's no secret that clemson brings in roughly 60mil and that pales in complexion to others. clemson is not hurting for money, they have top flight facilities, they have attracted 2 of the 3 top paid coordinators in the game...

neither morris nor venables is traveling half way across the country, uprooting family and leaving friend unless clemson has something to sell. apparently it does and a lot at that.

venables gets it, morris gets it, why can't some here get it?

i'm not promoting staying or going, but fack if i'm promoting the knee-jerk, doomsday reaction i'm seeing from some here.

how much does clemson need? they are not going to win a money battle, now or ever. how much do they need to maintain and grow because they've been doing it already?

Just to give you perspective...

May 21, 2012, 11:46 AM

our TV rights deal was the envy of conferences 15 years ago. Under this leadership, the conference is now a distant 5th with no signs of improving. As the brand has diminished, so has the gap between ourselves and our competition. It's is obvious that this gap is having an effect. Look at the Carolina rivalry. We have always dominated, but right now, Carolina starts every year with 10-20 million more than us. That means bigger and better facilities, bigger recruiting budgets and vastly more and higher quality exposure through their TV deals.

I was for saving the ACC. But the deal last week between the BIG 12 and SEC has drawn the line in the sand between the haves and the have nots. It's a shame, because it is a direct result of the poor leadership in place at the ACC head quarters that allowed the BIG 12 to gain the power footing when we could have been proactive as a conference.

Bottom line, it's over, and unless you want to stay in a conference that is soon to be a mid major, a move is imminent. Tobacco Road finally managed this conference into the ground and there is no going back. This one is squarely on the shoulders of UNC and Duke and it's a shame.

of the land. many would have said the same 15 years ago about other conferences in comparison to the acc.

apparently it wasn't over for them.

I hear prozac can help with your anger issues.

I didn't realize that there were only 11 fbs schools (note, there are far more).

It is exclusionary the same way you will never be an institutional investor on Wallstreet, you don't have enough money and the big players are already setting up their place at the table of four.

Give my your zip and I will call a doctor on your behalf. I'm sure they will make a house call so you won't have to miss one second of being "King of all Tigernet opinion."

On a side note, if you can sit back, and feel comfortable with what's going on and you don't think that change is coming, fine. We don't need to have anymore conversations. Some people are okay with ignoring the threat of change, and those people are usually left behind. Just because something isn't the situation today, doesn't mean it won't be tomorrows reality. How you plan and prepare for that reality is what determines your success or failure.

zip code?

you completely fabricated something; deal with it.

May 21, 2012, 12:32 PM

go back and read my original post. i'm not promoting staying or going, i'm also not promoting knee-jerk, uninformed reactions.

all you did was prove me right. you manufactured something that does not exist.

get it? no, i don't think you do.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't fabricate the deal between the SEC and Big 12

May 21, 2012, 12:38 PM

Just making a logical plan for the repercussion of such a deal. A logical view point I might add, that is shared with people that actually get paid to do this for a living, like, I don't know, ESPN, the Big 12 commish (did you listen to his interview)... you know, those other uninformed people.

And yes, you do have an anger issue when you have to post topic link to our conversation in order to try to gain support for you view point. It's called taking things way to seriously and getting offended when anyone has a differing view point.

Bye bye now

it's a bowl game.

May 21, 2012, 12:46 PM

there were 60 plans submitted at the most recent meeting of the oversight committee; none were thrown out.

it's a fairly simple concept, the system does not exist and therefore can't be exclusionary.

my issue is the misinformation out there that people use to form knee-jerk reactions and you simply proved my point.

you can say you are wrong or continue to defend a defenseless position. that's up to you.

Re: how much do you need to maintain and improve on

May 21, 2012, 11:56 AM [ in reply to how much do you need to maintain and improve on ]

I think that the issue here is that college FB has become a money market. And that is OK with me as long as Clemson just keeps up and puts a good product on the field. And I don't think that there is a problem with our product. But we must stay with the in crowd that puts FB first. As we all know, FB is a long way from being close to first in the ACC. And that is the VERY reason the conferences that are FB first are rooting the acc out and off of their National Championship play ground. The FB conferences are telling the acc not to bother them with a couple of FB schools that don't have the money to keep up with their types of play grounds. And you can't blame them.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i agree. there may be more than a big12ish way of

May 21, 2012, 12:05 PM

maintaining that; we will see.

like i said, have said, i will support clemson, tdp, the bot, the admin and know they have very good advisors in harry frampton and his committee. these are money brokers, big business 'heroes', that can aid in the new frontiers you mention.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The ACC needs to get rid of GT, VT, Miami and FSU

May 21, 2012, 11:51 AM

May 21, 2012, 11:57 AM

Going undefeated against an ACC slate after all this shakes out will be the equivalent of Tulane going undefeated in 1998. Nice ranking, maybe even top 10, but not invited to the party.

well be on the verge of entering into a deal with programs that do not need the money.

when you don't need the money, you can pretty much do anything you like.

texas, ou, notre dame are 3 of these schools.
