I don’t know why u guys are overthinking this

Nov 26, 2022, 8:19 PM

It’s very simple, when DJU plays well, we play well. He had two great games in September, but then got flaky. Now it’s flashes of good followed with lots of bad. When he’s good, it’s good enough to keep him in the game hoping for more good DJ. This typically doesn’t last long, but it’s enough to keep Cade and his freshman mistakes on the bench.

As long as we have him in the game, Streeter has to dumb down the plays, because it’s obvious that dj is not making a lot of reads. It makes streeter look bad, but he’s never going to say that. It was the same with tony Elliot. Tony got close to cracking and let it slip that he had to use plays that would give dj confidence….in other words, he dumbed it down. This is where we are at. The Defense has been good enough to keep us winning games, but we’ve all seen this coming since the GT game.

What I don’t understand is why Cade is “not ready” to go in while the game is still a contest.

Wow an actual lucid thought. Good for you.

Well the coaches bring in the players. It’s always on the coaches ultimately. That’s why they get a large deposit into their checking account 2x a month.

That is an interesting question.....also

Why isn’t DJ ready to play? He obviously isn’t ...to me.

If Clemson had Rattler I’d be booking my trip to the big dance. As it is I likely will not make the hour and a half trip to Charlotte to see a repeat of today’s game.

DJ isn’t in the same league with Boyd who wasn’t able to make the NFL.It’s a waste of time to spend more hours and hours with DJ. No one is benefitting from his “development”.

That poor kid can hang up the NFL. There’s always fashion design

That's on the coaches who scouted and evaluated DJ. That goes for our WR's too.
I wonder if Dabo was afraid to sign a different QB recruit than DJ because he was afraid it would look bad seeing how DJ was the consensus #1 QB recruit and his father was lobbying Clemson heavily to sign DJ.

Don't let the receivers off the hook! USC had one-handed catches and other catches from passes that were not perfect. Our receivers cannot get separation or hang onto the ball.

Yes, this is true. Our WRs are not what they used to be. But really, if the QB1 is good for more than 1 good pass every three series, this would not be such a problem.

Receivers not play into their potential has been an issue all season. If DJ is on target, receivers don’t catch.

I love Clemson, but I am not watching another game with DJU as the QB. Other boosters need to be voting with their dollars for the same.

The truth is if Cade were better than DJ, he’d be playing. We’ve seen Dabo do it before benching Kelly Bryant for TL. I think he’d do it again if the situation were the same. Apparently it is not and that is very concerning.

Nah.

DJU does not have the ability to hold the football and work through a progression. His read is #1: Designed receiver. If the designed play isn't there, his next look is to the outlet in the flat.

There is ZERO working down a list, looking for WR1, 2, 3, TE, then RB in the flat. Never has been. It's WR1, outlet.

Show me a play where this isn't the case and I'll buy you a beer.

I don't see how saying Cade is not ready is defensible. What would it take to make him "ready?" DJ getting hurt? Any honest assessment of DJ's performance tonight would have to come to the conclusion that he did a horrible job. The question I've been asking is, just how horrible does DJ have to get to come down to Cade's level of being "not ready." It just makes no sense. I don't have the answers but it seems to me there is more going on here than Cade "not being ready."

Re: I don’t know why u guys are overthinking this

Nov 26, 2022, 9:30 PM

This is a really great point. If DJ had been hurt would the coaches have rolled Cade out as a starter for a full game or would Helms or Johnson have been their choice? DJs floor is the basement and his ceiling is only 200 yards passing with 1 or 2 TDs and 40 yards rushing with no fumbles. That’s just not enough upside to say he is the best we have unless our coaches are pure trash, which I don’t believe.
