We also had the credit cards though. They would camp out in front of the union and the library offering free t-shirts if you just signed up for a card. Lol. They made their $$$$ back 1000 times over on the t-shirts. Had a friend who graduated with $10K in credit card debt. Told him I hope he liked his ####ing t-shirt.

the pre-paid legal thing was legit enough. you buy in and when you get that MIP, you already have a lawyer that you've been paying for to get you out of it. sign your friends up and make money on their money

And quite frankly, I drank more in high school than in college. I bet I've drunk about the same amount of booze before and after age 21.
MANY of my friends got tickets. Some right in front of me. A wise old friend of mine once told me the secret. NEVER run. NEVER toss your beer. NEVER act scared. I saw it time and time again. 200 kids drinking in high school at someone's house whose parents were gone for the weekend. Cops bust the party. Perhaps 6-8 cops descend on the party, and 150 drunk kids run. They all chase the kids who run, or ID the ones who tossed their cups. Meanwhile, the cooler heads at the party keep on drinking, talking, whatever as chaos ensues around them. Casually put your cup down and walk out and leave.
There was group of us who lived by this principle and it served us all well.

advertising and selling though. I think one fraternity pocketed over $1,000 from it so I heard later. When I got hit up for the 5th time, I started to figure out it was all pledges in fraternities who lived in Johnstone doing it. They never said it was for a fraternity. But it was.

Pledges do the dirty work to earn actives the money.
Just like this run with bitcoin. The only winners are the ones that have been in Bitcoin for years.

-Pyramid scheme shares had no purchasing power. -You couldn't cash out any time you chose once you bought into the pyramid scheme. -Pyramid scheme share futures aren't available in ETF's. -Pyramid schemes aren't based on the future of p2p transactional technology.
But yeah, otherwise exactly the same.

think's it's worth. One hack (and it will happen and has) and it's gone.
On a side note, the real winners in this bitcoin bonanza will be the drug dealers. All this started on the dark web with people using bitcoin to buy illegal drugs so they couldn't be traced. Those guys, if they sat on the things, are all millionaires now, or billionaires. Of course Mt. Gox culled the heard a bit, and it will be culled again and again.
But at this point it's insane to get into bitcoin.

I recommended it earlier this year. Of course, even with the decline today, it's now worth 10x what it was at that point, so I'll agree to disagree with you.
What you just said is true of any fiat currency. You choose your comfort level and participate accordingly.
