but this game is NOT the biggest game in Clemson history--that happened on New Year's night 1982. It is a big game but I would argue there are 2 games even bigger this year--USuC and FSU.
I love the Tigers. This is a big game but there are 11 more in the regular season after this one. Sorry but I will be just as loud and yell just as much as I did last year against Auburn or LSU.
The thing is our team, our coaches, and you cannot just show up and expect to win because UGA is ranked #5 and we are ranked #8, Gameday is here, and a whole bunch of you have a chance to get all liquored up before an 8:00 kickoff. Hell, some of you may not even make it to the game--passed out at the tailgate party--and if that happens is the hype even warranted?
No, don't get me wrong. This is a big game but then every high profile game is a big game at Clemson. It is big to get our season off to a good start. It is an old rival that it would be great to beat. I will be just as happy to get a win as I was 11X last year. I will be there as usual and as loyal as ever--but I just ain't buying into all the hype this Saturday.

I agree. If there's one I could stand to lose this is it. I think Dabo's goals are,
1. Win the season opener.
2. Win the division title.
3. Win against USuCk (though I haven't seen or heard that but if he doesn't get it now he never will).
4. Win the ACC.
5 Win the bowl game.
Winning the opener isn't gonna prevent us from reaching our other goals.

and keeping it going for the WHOLE SEASON. If we are to have a special season, it starts with the first game, which happens to be against a top 5 old rival. I agree, this is not the 82 OB, but it is a close 2nd! Go Tigers!

I agree its not as big as the 82 orange bowl but all the hype we are getting makes it big because of the things that have happened at CU in the last 10 years. Alabama crushed us on National TV , Orange Bowl 2012, we just seem always pull a clemson and I think that is what makes this such a huge game. Yes if we lose this one and win the rest it will be a great season but not sure we will play anyone else this year in which the game is getting this much hype. I know that could change if we are undefeated and FSU or USC is undefeated when we play.

Losing any game that season would have eliminated the value of that last game. A championship season is the product of every game. Dabo's right - every game is the most important game.

I hear ya-
At the end of the day, could we still run the table and get to the big dance after a 1st game loss? YES.
I see it as, the MOST important game is the next game. Lets focus on this week now and next Monday AM we will look to SCS. So while I agree that this isnt the most important game ever, or of the season... It is the most important game this week and that is all we need to know.

if we win and if we go on to have an '81 type season it is big. otherwise not. stub our toe somewhere else we shouldnt and it doesnt matter mch beyond just an opening game.
NOw we will play them precious few times in the future so it would be nice for this last trip to DV in a while to give them an L. But big depends on what we follow up withv

Hate to restate it again but the anticipation comes from last season's ending. And it felt really good to beat one of them. But we had to listen to clusters of excuses. The level of smug from some folks on the other side of the fence is at an all-time high. And nothing would make us happier than to end that. And it could start Saturday.

no problem except last year has 0 impact on this year. I've seen us get hyped and fizzle so I dont buy into "preseason hype". I buy into results.

You really don't think the SEC pumping by SEC teams and fans will end over one more game do you?
We don't have enough SEC on our schedule to phase even their brightest and most football knowledgable fans.

I hate reading these posts that this game is the biggest game ever. All these posts are doing is giving UGA, plus USuCk, and the SEC the big-head. To me, the Florida State game is JUST AS HUGE, if not more!
