What happened to the middle of the road T-Netters?
Oct 22, 2014, 9:56 AM
|
|
I remember a day where many posters on this site were objective and had good Clemson discussions, neither over the top negative or vice versa. It seems more and more that a line has been drawn and the objective folks were pushed into the "pumper" realm by those that felt firing a coach or getting new players was the solution to why we lost games or didn't win the game the way that the particular poster wanted us to win.
I want my old T-Net back. I has the sad!!

It could be that some people only come here a couple times a day for a few minutes at a time. They don't see all of the posts that are made. Therefore, they don't get the sarcasm or inside jokes.
Then, there are others, not naming names, that are on here all the time. They see all of the posts and are up to speed on the nuances of TNet.
Oh wait, that was logical.....My apologies!

Come now York.... I have been here some time and there are inside jokes, slang, and stuff that even as a Tiger fan for 40 years I did not know till tiger net.
Coot & Lame ####- Both kind of self explanatory, but seen them here the first time.
Germans - seen the move, but didn't understand the reference.
There are others as well. It takes time for someone to be brought into the fold and T-net has a tendency to eat it's young.
It takes months to get them trained to standard.

I'd like to comment on your questioning CM's play calling.

You really ought to be jumping on Dabo about that. I think the issue most folks had was with the conservatism.
If it's the fact that we've become more predictable I think pointing out that our lack of variety in calling plays is more due to the maturity we lost to graduation and the NFL. Opposing coaches have a lot less to worry about now.
Is that all you wanted?

Middle Roaders don't want to post.

Attempts at serious discussions are hijacked to the outer extremes of the topic at hand. No reason to participate in that folly. They still read for the sheer entertainment (this board in hilarious at times), and there is plenty of information here.

Since I was forced that way I decided to run with it!!

I would certainly fit in the "pumper" category, but tnet is like Fox vs. CNN as seen on TMZ starring Whoopi Goldberg and Jerry Springer. I love it, but don't want to be on the stage.

A wise man should never argue with a fool...

...as passersby will not be able to discern which is the wise man and which is the fool.
I don't know where that proverb came from. I learned if from my grandfather and it has served me well.
I can't remember the last time I even made a comment here.

When the middle was defined by the extremes, it withered ...

Much like politics and any other sensible conversation, smart-assery and ad hominem are much easier routes to follow. Knee-jerk (or just about any other sort of jerk) arguments required little insight, so they became prevalent.
There are few who remember the days when this was a place of reasoned discourse, and fewer with the energy to push that rock up the hill once more.

As a "middle of the road", "lurker", "newb" I can say that I read every single article that is published on Tigernet and then, to fill a bit of time, check out the board.
I used to judge which threads to read by the amount of TU's as well as by the amount of responses that a thread garnered. Well, that doesn't work because people get TU for blanket pro Clemson statements and asinine anti Uni. of SC statements which honestly are a waste of my time. Then you have threads with 20 responses that turn out to be 2 of the 10 handles that must have NOTHING else to do with their time than be on the TNET board, having a conversation via TNET. If people do try to have a legitimate discussion (which should have multiple viewpoints) the "village idiots / bullies" start the ever present "tell 'em coot". original.
In conclusion it's really only worth reading posts by people who have proven to be informative, semi open minded, or at the very least entertaining.
