Here is my question?

2

Sep 5, 2023, 8:42 PM

All of you out there ready to burn the program to the ground, answer me this. If we were to play Duke again this weekend, who do you think would win? How about if I ask it another way, did Duke beat Clemson last night, or did Clemson? In my opinion, it was the latter and it is not even that debatable.

Hats off to Duke. They played like the seasoned, veteran team that they are. They let the inexperienced team breaking in a new QB make mistake after mistake. That said, make no mistake we beat ourselves.

What difference does it make? We are 0-1, you sound like Tommy Bowden, Duke came to play, we didn't, if you beat yourselves that is much worse than getting whipped. Shows lack of character and desire.

Lack of character and desire?? Where do you come up with that crap? There was plenty of character and desire and there always has been. There was a lack of concentration and a downfield passing game. We ran the ball really well between the tackles which amazes me that we didn't use it. LB's were hanging back and killed the short and intermediate passing game. We did not have the speed for downfield. More than anything, to me, it looked like we were outcoached in adjustments and game plan. Maybe the OC could have seen it from the booth had he been there. For all the whoopla over the offseason, it was disappointing but I cannot conceive character and desire can be applied unless there is just total ignorance to their meaning.

Loss is a loss. Really does not matter if the Smurfs beat us, we lost.

What do you think the score would be if we played again? How many passing yards / TDs does Cade throw?

Add in the 2 missed fgs and just say we score two tds that’s 27 points … they scored 28, there are still other issues. And if you say one was a flip of the field on the fumble yea cade tackled him around the 25-30 I believe … didn’t keep em out the end zone. Also they gave us our only td with the muffed punt so it goes both ways , they had turnovers too and we didn’t exactly slow them down at all late in the 3rd through the 4th… we all knew wr were a problem but I just can’t be convinced we have missed on that many guys for 3 years straight … I mean we are talking all high 4 and 5 star guys that were very productive wr in high school … I’m never a fire this guy off the rip kind of person but whatever grisham is doin ain’t working at all… either recruiting duds which I don’t believe , or he just has no idea how to develop and teach the position , whcih is what I think is happening

Grisham can only offer kids that both Riley and Dabo approve. Grisham is not scapegoat in this. The first test of any player we recruit should be a true time in the 40 not a time from some recruiting service.

Sep 5, 2023, 9:53 PM

My point was not solely pointed towards speed… there are tons of great wrs that weren’t 4.2 guys. I think we have talent there I just don’t believe we have missed that badly on that many guys like some believe. All I was saying is maybe he’s not developing them at all as far as route runners and reading defenses and getting position, etc

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you do realize that we had to play almost perfect last night

Sep 5, 2023, 9:14 PM

to have won that game?

DUKE beat Clemson, to answer your question.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Im not sure who would win...

Sep 5, 2023, 9:16 PM

We have things to clean up, but its not like Duke played their best either.

We missed field goals, tackles, catches, blocks, hand offs, and opportunities. Other than this, the Tigers were terrific.

Do you think Duke could ever win this matchup if the teams swapped coaches?

We have been losing with superior talent for years now. We have too many coaches who don’t know how to coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, true true.***

But we don't play them this weekend. Not sure we would

Sep 5, 2023, 9:28 PM

beat them. I highly doubt we would. But the point is, you get one shot.

Is that you Tommy "we could beat them 4 out of 5 times" Bowden?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't be surprised if Duke won the rematch***

Re: Here is my question?

Sep 5, 2023, 9:46 PM

Here is my answer; Your point is moot with a capital M. Does not matter if we play them again or not, and we don't, or if you put it down as Duke beating Clemson or Clemson shooting themselves in the foot, it is a loss to a conference opponent and unless our coaching staff turns thing around tomorrow I see FSU doing the same thing in the Valley Sept 23rd!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I havent seen anyone want to burn our program to the ground.

But I have seen people frustrated by how poorly the program is being run. Our once proud program, which was the model for college football, is now a shell of its former self. The last few years prove it.

I think Duke made some big plays at crucial points in the game and forced us to make huge mistakes and therefore beat us.
