Hello, well educated basketball fans!

Last year, Duke had 4 losses as the first place ACC team. The second place team had 5 losses.

We are likely looking at 3-4 more losses in conference at a minimum. Which of our remaining games would be acceptable to lose? Are your expectations to win every single basketball game and go undefeated?

These game below are all games we very well could lose. We may even drop one that we shouldn't lose!

@NC State
@UNC
@UVA
Miami
And even one of BC, FSU, Louisville on the road

Clemson is currently 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the ACC...

with twelve games remaining.

Let's look at the remaining games objectively;

VT - W
GT - W
@ FSU - toss-up
@ BC - W
Miami - toss-up
@ UNC - L
FSU - W
@ UL - W
Cuse - W
@ NCSU - toss-up
@ UVA - L
ND - W

I had both the Duke game and the Wake game as toss-ups as well and, as you know, Clemson won one and lost one.

Winning 7 or 8 of the remaining games is still a realistic possibility (which would entail losing all of the remaining three toss-up games in addition to losing at UNC and at UVa). Should that occur, Clemson would finish the regular season with either a 22-9 or a 23-8 record overall and either 14-6 or 15-5 in ACC play. That also keeps Clemson firmly in the NCAAT discussion and likely a top four seed with a bye in the ACCT.

Of course, they'll need to play better (MUCH BETTER) than they did last night for that to happen.

Yes I agree with your take on the schedule. That also assumes chase hunter is back and healthy.

I called for a 15-5 ACC record in your last post. We should finish January 11-1 or 10-2, either of which iwould be phenomenal.
As we all know, anything can happen in roundball (hot-cold nights, injuries, teams gel, etc)..
Go Tigers!

With Hunter, we are a much better team, so.

with him last night, it would have been much closer.

It blows my mind how people talk so favorably of OP and so negatively of BB.

I liked OP while he was here. I didn't want him to leave when he did. He peaked at Clemson, and his style of play didn't work come tourney time.

He also didn't leave Clemson in very good shape long term

2024 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you had a choice right now between OP on his prime, and boring Brad,

Jan 18, 2023, 7:34 PM

which would you choose, and why, Judge?

In fairness to OP...

you have absolutely no chance of winning the first one if you're not invited to the party.

I'd rather be there and lose the first one as opposed to rarely being there at all. Maybe that's just me.

Yes, that’s a nice goal to make the NCAA Tournament and win our first game.

That’s happened a grand total of 5 times in Clemson basketball history, and Brownell has two of those.

The play-in win was for a slot in the tournament.

Jan 18, 2023, 7:36 PM [ in reply to Yes, that’s a nice goal to make the NCAA Tournament and win our first game. ]

And then we promptly lost

We've won a grand total of two tournament games, in 12 years. That's pitiful, especially when you're getting paid like Brad is.

Do you have to have a “doctorate” to reply?

Jan 18, 2023, 1:21 PM

I would be “giddy” with only 5 conference losses.

I don’t like making predictions. I think the conference is probably as competitive as it has been in a long time and when that happens home court means a lot. Winning on the road is going to be tough against any team. We need to play one game at a time and maybe adopt Dabo’s philosophy that the next game is the biggest game of the year. Right now I’m just having fun watching our Tigers compete every game.

Since you called me out ha, there are only two players in our line up that can create their own shot, and one of them was missing last night. Don’t know why all these people are hitting the panic button over 7-1.

I wd love to be wrong. But based upon the history under the Big Brown L (loser?) I am guessing our team goes 4-8. I only see us winning at home vs VaT and ND and road games at GaT and BC.

Every year there is a period of great wins followed by player injuries and head-shaking losing streaks.
I wd love 2 be wrong. But we hv all been here before.
Is 19-12 a good season? Followed by a first game loss in the ACCT and a win and loss in another tournament.
Is 20-15 okay?
