Streeter at OC

Dec 11, 2021, 2:01 PM

My first reaction to this was… “eeeeehh I don’t know, let’s go after a big name.”

After thinking about it, he could be the perfect guy. He has been on the field and not up in the booth. I know that as a former D-1 QB and having success at Richmond(?) he knows how to read the field and make decisions.

Also, I wonder how much UVA and Duke had been talking to TE before this season started. Maybe….. just maybe, our staff knew that a ton of changes were coming, and they had to spend time making a strategy for the off-season moves that they knew were coming. Dabo runs this program like a successful CEO runs a large business. Nothing is done overnight.

I’m looking forward to watching our new staff succeed, and evolve Clemson football even further.

I think the bowl game will tell us a decent amount about Streeter’s situational play calling.

Go Tigers!!!

Totally agree. We have done well hiring from within.

He was the OC against LSU two years ago

Dec 11, 2021, 2:16 PM

And how did that turn out?

We lost to an LSU that was arguably the best team in the history of football.

We put up enough points to beat both LSU and OSU - our D could not stop them.

Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, Jamarr Chase, Damien Lewis, Clyde Edwards Helaire, Thaddeus Moss. Terrace Marshall Jr., Stephen Sullivan, Tory Carter, Badara Traore, Saahdiq Charles, Lloyd Cushenberry, Racey McMath.

My god that was just the offense. 13 players went into the NFL from that offense. 5 receivers are NFL receivers. Both tight ends in the NFL. Running back and full back in the NFL.

Just a crazy team to face in a championship game.

Yeah, clemsonfan2000c® our offensive coordinator was why LSU put up all those points in the 2019 National Championship game.

Brilliant.

no Covid in Jan 2020 when we played LSU

How did it turn out for anyone that played LSU that year. Cherry picking 1 or 2 games out of 100 is a bad way of measuring success or failure.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

clemsonfan2000c - serious question for you ...

Dec 11, 2021, 2:58 PM [ in reply to He was the OC against LSU two years ago ]

Do you really think that proves or demonstrates ANYTHING? If so, it shows an incredible lack of critical thinking skills on your part. Think about it.

How did BRENT VENABLES do that game? LSU Scored 42 points and put up SIX HUNDRED TWENTY EIGHT YARDS on his defense. So, How did that turn out?

Besides, that was one game. Are you going to base everything, anything, off of one game as a casual observer, vs. years of Dabo's intimate, first-hand knowledge? Really? This is what I'm talking about. It's fine to disagree, but you gotta bring a good argument that makes some sense.

He also had something like 3 days notice that he was OC that game. He had no choice but to basically run TEs plays. With an off-season to implement his own schemes I’ll bet it looks nothing like that

He’s sat in the seat

already when Tony was in protocol.

CDS isn’t going to set someone up to fail by hiring them into a position they aren’t ready for.

I really like the idea of Wes Goodwin DC and Streeter OC. I only question if they can recruit. And Streeter needs to stop being QB Coach.

Streeter has been on staff 7 years

Dec 11, 2021, 2:53 PM

He's the primary on Klubnick. Was recruiting director several years. How is his recruiting a question?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Streeter has been on staff 7 years

Dec 11, 2021, 3:01 PM

Well he has only recruited 6 players 4 star or above in 7 years and one of them was DJ which looks to be a huge miss. Compare that to Tony Elliott which pulled in 23 recruits of that caliber and was a force in Georgia and Florida recruiting. Streeter has pulled most of his from Georgia and not one recruit from Florida.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Florida isn't Streeter's territory

Dec 11, 2021, 3:37 PM

They have assigned territories and also recruit positionally. He was lead recruiter on Williams who committed this week as SC is his territory

Re: Florida isn't Streeter's territory

Dec 11, 2021, 3:49 PM

With Randy Shannon back in Florida I just hated losing Tony Elliott. Maybe CJ Spiller will surprise us and be an amazing recruiter. Florida is going to be tougher than before and I was just worried on the low number of recruits Streeter has been pulling. Great recruits just not a whole lot of them.

NIL is changing recruiting for good, it may not matter if...

Dec 11, 2021, 3:02 PM [ in reply to Re: Streeter at OC ]

they can recruit.

If we don't have deep pocket companies figuring out creative ways to get recruits paid a salary (ie texas and others) it will be tough sledding for Clemson...........that's the ONE thing Dabo can't control..........he can control hires & portal utilization, but not getting some NIL money for recruits.

Would be nice if we could get something going with BMW in Greenville since we have that CU-ICAR setup.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: NIL is changing recruiting for good, it may not matter if...

Dec 11, 2021, 3:41 PM

BMW gives each player a BMW with all maintenance costs paid by BMW. Player pays cost of insurance. Player accepts BMW as a 3 year lease contract, renewable for 1 additional year at end of year 3 and all lease payments are paid for by BMW as part of NIL.

If player leaves team but stays enrolled at Clemson, the lease is terminated at no cost to player. If player enters transfer portal, lease is terminated, car reverts back to a normal lease agreement and player has to pay BMW the remaining lease payments.

But BMW would never agree to do this but it would be a great recruiting tool and a great deal for all players on team. Matter of fact, maybe Clemson could throw in naming the stadium BMW Clemson Memorial Stadium as long as the player deal was in effect and that would git er dun.
