Hog dogs are usually black mouth cur dogs that you train to hunt boar. Feral hogs,by comparison, are big dumb animals that don't require dogs to get at. Just point and shoot.
Boars, on the other hand, require resilience to catch and kill. So a good hog dog is worth the money needed to acquire and train.
But once trained, a hog dog is hard to stop once it catches the scent.

I wish Clemson basketball had a little more hog dog in its DNA.
