Getting cut off at the pass by Georgia and NC

With Ga buying them a Natty it is even going to make it harder to recruit in Ga and Mac is putting some squeeze on us in NC. Very few good players come out of SC and the Florida programs seem on the rise with new hires. We gonna have to double down on recruiter get some out of portal snd outcoach snd scheme these other guys. Chad and Brent got us here and someone else gonna have to pick up the slack or we start falling back.

Can you tell me 1 year we did not score many many points with that Dude as OC? He started the WRs coming to Clemson. We were one of the first major programs to have up tempo and throw it all over the yard using a running QB. I can assure you he would have figured out a way to score more points this past season than we scored snd that might have been the difference in an ACC championship and playoff birth. He would get a little cute occasionally but how many boring everyone knows what you gonna do calls have we had lately?

Chad's performances have certainly led to a stellar rise up the coaching ranks.

Chad? Really?
Yes… Chad! He didn’t win a championship at Clemson, but he made Dabo realize the necessity of an offense. Numbers don’t lie! Clemson didn’t know what an offense was until Chad got there!

Look in Texas!
Plenty of good players that go everywhere! Oklahoma and Arkansas have been living off of Texas players for years....
We should focus on several high quality players in Texas every year. In the old days, all the best players when to University of Texas, and many sat on the bench. If they just want NIL money, they will end up at UT or TAMU. Not the players we want anyway.
Now they go all over the country, not just Texas schools. Cade is a good example. We could even get Chad Morris to give us some Texas recruiting pointers!

Agree. We are going to have to focus on some other areas for awhile while not giving up on Ga and NC. Texas would be a good one and lots of big O lineman up north. Need a pipeline up North as not as many good programs up there and they always have quality O Lineman. Look at BC

Mack did lose to the Coots in Charlotte , right ? They're not any threat to us. Georgia is a different story

He or someone on his staff seem to be able to sell snow balls to an Eskimo. With a pathetic 6-7 record they out recruited everyone else in the ACC including us. Sam Howell Id think is headed to the NFL. I can’t believe how they beat up on him this year.

No doubt that recruiting is where our coaches have gotten some what slack, and I feel that it's bc of how Dabo pats himself on the back with the players that he brings in. At sometime, he needs to get back to recruiting for winning championships!!!

I wont directly dispute Moontiger's comment to Chad and Brent. But, it should be noted that someone else got those two over to Clemson in the first place.
I do think you could make the argument that Rich Rod changed the culture view of the fans and made tempo and offense cool. Then after Spence and Napier regressed, Chad tapped back into what Rich Rod started. Chad was no brilliant OC - he had some moments but nothing that could be sustained.
TE and Scott was a combo that worked well. TE did a pretty good job until to many weapons were taken off the table and then he did not have the moxie of a Rich or Chad to change drastically enough to impact this year. Dabo is in control of that so he has to take the responsibility.
Personally I like the turnover of the coaches and what has come to be. I knew Streeter would eventually be the OC. Did not know Weslichick was even on staff, but have since learned his background and noted the respect he has earned - so no worries there. Nick Eason and Austin I think will prove to be fantastic hires in the long run.
The best is yet to come...............

Great Post. Forgot about Rich Rod. He and Chad did a lot with not much during those times. It seems with more talent we have pulled back from what those guys did. We are not getting the top receivers now as we were with Higgins Ross Nuke Williams etc. we lost our way a little on offense and two generational QBs got us thru that time.

Mack completely failed in UNC's bowl game. That team looked like it was moving in slow motion. He's doing less with more--something that might not translate too well in future recruiting classes. UGA has always recruited at a high level. Clemson just signed the HS player of the year. Good grief. Look up. The sky is still intact.

You've helped the OC/DC concern a bit by your slightly inaccurate position that Chad Morris "got us there". Morris helped build the brand , and he got DW4 to come to Clemson...but he left the year before we actually got to that promised land. It was year 2 of Scott/Elliott before we actually won it. I think people are justifiably worried about our DC/OC promotions , but the history of how Dabo Swinney has guided this ship should allow for some leeway where judgement is concerned. Trust in the process. Clemson isn't just a decent little football school in NW SC anymore , we're a national brand with the hardware to prove it.
