Clemson Basketball NCAA Tournament Bracketology - 2/26/24

As of today, we are 19-8 overall and in great shape for late February.
We have won 5 of our last 6 games. Over the past month, we are 6-3. Those three losses were by a combined 3 points. We are playing extremely competitive, high level basketball.
We have four regular season games left, two home and two away. We play Pitt at home tomorrow night, then go to Notre Dame this weekend for a Saturday night game in South Bend. We return home next Tuesday to face Syracuse, and then go on the road for our regular season finale at Wake Forest.
Our NCAA Tournament resume remains very strong, with a NET of 23. We are 4-3 against quad 1 opponents, which is very good. Eight teams ranked ahead of us in the NET have losing records against quad 1 opponents.
We've also shown that we can win away from home, with a 3-0 record in neutral site games and a 6-4 road record. Our 9-4 record away from home is a winning percentage of .692, which is among the best in the nation in non-home games.
In terms of bracketology, we are a 5 seed. Bracket Matrix is a great place to look to see how we fare in multiple brackets. They show info from 100 brackets, and we are in 100% of them. Our highest seed there is a 4, and our lowest is a 7.

We need to continue our excellent play of late and finish out the regular season strong. We are still very much in the mix for a top 4 ACC finish and the double bye in the ACC Tournament.
Contrary to a lot of the posts here, we are a very good team this year and are well positioned for the postseason.

That's certainly my hope.
Going 3-1 would still be good in my opinion, considering that three of these opponents are currently in the top 6 of the ACC standings.
Even 2-2 would not hurt us much if any, provided that we don't lose to Notre Dame.
We are in the NCAA Tournament regardless.

It's funny though, some of the naysayers are now arguing that this year doesn't matter, and that they won't support Brownell until we are an NCAA Tournament team every year. You know, to make up for these last 14 years which have evidently been horrible.

But the last 14 years did happen … which is why I’m in the camp of just making it is not enough. This team can be very good and fun to watch, but if we get a 5 seed and lose in the first round we need to move on and that’s just my opinion. But I will agree with what he said today about the Big 12 and I do feel we were shafted last year and if you win a couple games in the tourney last year it changes the perspective this year honestly. I’ll def admit iv wanted him gone many times in the past but you win a game or two in the tourney this year and that changes imo. Point is the last 14 years still matters in the grand scheme of excitement and doubts but shouldn’t have an effect for ppl getting excited for what this team is capable of in the tourney… I for one think we are 100% capable of winning a couple games and seeing what happens from there.

for some of the anti-Brownell crowd to minimize the upward trajectory of our program in recent seasons.
As I've said before, big time college athletics is a "what have you done for me lately?" business. It's big money, and results matter. Our men's basketball program had a successful year last year and is also having one this year. Our 2024 recruiting class is very good, and we have some additional facility upgrades/projects on the horizon.
The sum total of all this is a program with positive momentum. Anyone who truly cares about Clemson basketball should be excited about this, rather than the constant harping on what they perceive as failures from many years ago.

plain and simple a Brad Brownell fan/worshipper. If Brad loses, its everyone else's fault and quick to throw blame at the players whereas many of us support the players and don't worship Brad Brownell. If we win, it's Brad's doing and Brad's alone. And I in particular think that 3 NCAAT in 13 years is poor.

I personally don't think they will have any trouble getting in.
They are #25 in NET, 18-9 overall. Their issue had been no quad 1 wins, as they were 0-4 against quad 1 and 5-5 against quad 2. Their win against UNC was huge as it gave them a really good win for their resume.
Their other issue is that although they've been outstanding at home (15-0), they are just 3-9 away from home.
I don't think they are a bubble team anymore after beating UNC. They would certainly like to have some more good wins though to bolster their resume, and here's to us not being one of them.

We will be fine. We won Saturday with PJ in foul trouble all night. Joe and Chase were on their game and Godfrey was as solid as I’ve seen him. Clark added some great defense. They are fun to watch when they play that way.

Judge Keller® Your faith in this team and esp CBB is commendable. Fortunately, for the tourney and/or Dance we will not be playing at home. For some reason that has been one of our trouble-spots, which I noticed was omitted in your assessment. It also worries me we have (2) home game as you noted.
Not a dig, but just one of those headscratchers I'd be curious of your opinion on as to why that is the case (since apparently home court advantage is larger in BBall then most sports). Thanks for keeping tabs and simplifying all this stuff for us not as fanatic fans!

This year, our team plays down to the level of their lesser opponents. But it looks like Pitt has surprised them ...
