Franchione did OK there under the circumstances. He quit voluntarily to take the A&M job.

'Friend of mine is in the "red elephant club" and says their new hire is known
as a poor recruiter. He also predicts they will lose nearly all of the recruits +
guys who were going to come back for a last year will now transfer.

Well, they lost 17. Most were players that transferred again or graduated. Brought in 11 to date. The last 3 years they've been equal to us in hs recruiting. Norvell wants to have a developmental program but as much of a mess they had, he's forced to go the transfers route.

Bottom line, they'll be good again next year. They'll use DJ and hope the young 5* develops quickly. Until then, they'll have serviceable qbs.

Can you pick up last minute hs recruits that have the potential to be better than guys in the portal? Probably so. It's a gamble if you need to rely on the hs recruit . Ijust believe you can get a portal player that may not be as good long term but they'll help you this season.

Stellato is a great example. Huge upside in hs but he was of zero value freshman year because he couldn't learn the plays. Bottom line, both teams should be good this year. Just two approaches.
