From the Virginia Tech board re: Beasley

Jan 15, 2014, 8:54 AM

The simple answer to his WTH, in C.J.'s words:
"I had to do what's best for me. That was being at Clemson."

----------
Subject: Vic Beasley not turning pro b/c he's "only" a 2nd round projection?
Posted by: UpstateSCHokie on 01/15/2014 07:40 AM
Message:

WTH? If he stays in school because he's not a projected 1st rounder, then this will be yet another example of Clemson somehow keeping their stars from turning pro early (see CJ Spiller).

And yet we have trouble keeping guys that are projected as 4th or 5th round picks.

kind of nice how we have now gotten in VT's heads after so many years of the being in ours

I seriously used to be terrified of VT

Jan 15, 2014, 9:03 AM

now I laugh at them and would love to beat them down every year

Re: I seriously used to be terrified of VT

Jan 15, 2014, 9:37 AM

they used to just physically beat us down. suddenly it changed. the year we beat them there and at a neutral site to win the conf was one of my favorite football seasons

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They only had a 5 game streak on us. We beat them in

Jan 15, 2014, 9:56 AM

1989 and then lost the next 5 before we beat them in Blacksburg in 2011.

The 2006 game was the worst. We were #10 after we smashed GT on Gameday. John "Bozo the Clown" Swofford made sure we only had 5 days to get ready for Blacksburg. That was a long night.

That game wil always haunt me

Jan 15, 2014, 9:58 AM

I was rising high after the GT beat down and then it all fell apart as VT curb stomped us! They also hurt 3 of our players I believe because of those STUPID bubble screens. I think the very next year that Ford got murder death killed on one of those. Even since then I both feared and hated VT. Beating them twice in 2011 was so awesome!

Me too, fun that now we're beating OSU, LSU, UGA... we've

One of the hottest games ever was VPI in DV in '98 when TW

Jan 15, 2014, 9:22 AM [ in reply to Re: From the Virginia Tech board re: Beasley ]

Was still here. It was one long, hot afternoon in DV! That game sort of marked the beginning of Tech's metamorphosis into a very good program.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That one and the 2003 UGA are the hottest and worst

Jan 15, 2014, 9:58 AM

loses I have ever attended.

Really bad memories all around for both of those games.

We still owe the pups, imo!

First game I ever left early

Jan 15, 2014, 11:31 AM [ in reply to One of the hottest games ever was VPI in DV in '98 when TW ]

We were down 37-0 or something ridiculous, and I had on a long-sleeve shirt to cover up some bad sunburn. I couldn't stand it anymore, I was so miserable (mentally and physically) that I just had to leave.

+1 74Tiger, totally agree!***

There's something that keeps them in the hills here...

Jan 15, 2014, 9:55 AM

...and something that chases them away up there.

Very simple Clemson>vt

Jan 15, 2014, 9:57 AM

Clemson was such a great part of our lives some of my friends didn't think 4 years was enough and stayed an extra 1, 2 heck even 3 years for one of my friends.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just depends on the individual. Breeland may not

Jan 15, 2014, 11:44 AM

even be drafted and he left early. Bryant is likely a mid to late round pick and he left early.
