For those wanting to debate talent (Clemson vs. FSU)

Oct 22, 2013, 4:51 PM

Here's a nice article that breaks down every position from Shaking the Southland

http://www.shakinthesouthland.com/2013/10/16/4836800/2013-florida-state-clemson-depth-chart-analysis

I noticed the most glaring difference is on the D line. FSU is riddled with 5 stars. I don't really have a stance on the issue other than we need some more stud D linemen and DBs.

Those number differences are pretty big***

Not sure how you can even debate on the "talent" comparison. While our recruiting has improved dramatically in the last 5 years, we are out-recruited every year by Florida State. But then, so are most programs. Year in and year out, they are in the top 5. But so is Georgia. As such, our coaches have to do a better job getting the most out of the guys we have. And I commend them. At this point, it's obvious we aren't ready for the National Championship game. What everyone needs to ask is, "Are we closer than we were in 2008. The answer is a resounding, "YES!" We've got a great coaching staff and are becoming a great program. But Rome wasn't built in a day. Just be patient. Our day will come. Until then, being in a BCS Bowl game for 3 years in a row isn't bad. And we will be this year after we win out. Go Tigers!

^^^^This^^^^ You don't build a national championship

caliber program over night.

We don't want a flash-in-the-pan challenger. We want a program that consistently wins 10+ games. That's how you build a contender.

Ummmm......AFAIK we've only been to one BCS bowl and we all know how that turned out.

The 'Noles never lost a beat in recruiting from the 90s,

they've just been waiting for their coaching to catch (back) up.

They had 11 draft picks last year.

I think, long term, FSU being "good" again will be good for us. If you want to be the best, you've gotta play the best.

they don't have a metric for choke-ability***
