The committee basically said it's a good thing, voting "favorably" on it, but it's not to the step of being passed into law yet.

Any of the bozos who say Dabo doesn’t support NIL or is against it should read his comments here. Bret is correct, Dabo gets it and will carry it out with dignity and integrity. As usual.

These bozos (some of them obvious trolls) also willingly overlook Dabo being a pioneer here in the NIL space with the branding apparatus he launched within the program, which has since expanded to assist all of Clemson's student-athletes. The negative narrative they push is the opposite of how Dabo has addressed this and incorporated it into our program.

The criticism of Dabo isn't about NIL nearly as much...

...as it's about the transfer portal being a one way street out of Clemson.
I understand Dabo wanting to develop players. Unfortunately, a lot of good backups get developed just enough to transfer out.
That reputation hurts the tigers when it comes to short term needs. Last season it was the OL and the kicker. This season? Too soon to tell.

Why the NIL started with hardly any oversight, guidelines, and a market cap is beyond me. Just to have an open auction and the highest bidder win is just crazy. If schools and players were capped then more thought would go into a players choice if multiple schools were at the same bid. If a player were to entertain leaving a school after their first year then then their next cap would half of what they received the first year. If this can't be corralled then college athletics are done and you just have a farm system or semi pro league going forward.

Capping NIL violates the federal law.

The Sherman Antitrust Act, specifically.

Schools could agree to a program-wide NIL cap, wherein if you exceed that number your school is not eligible for the post-season. If you're a hot shot kid wanting bank, like scholarship limits (which do seem legal) you may simply be limited to a school that has room for what you're asking.

Because it would be third party interference in a private business arrangement between two other private entities.
That's an explicit Sherman Act violation.

Matt Ruhle said this week that a Portal QB cost between 1 and 2 Million dollars. If a player switches a couple of times he could earn 6-8 Million dollars!!
This is crap folks pure and simple!!!!

Skeptical. Can they write in that the universities won't get commissions from helping athletes? I think it's up to the athlete who they retain. The issue is too much per for schools already.
