Fitness dawgs and the oldsters. 1) Resting heart rate?

What you got? APM has been as low as 45 recently.

2) olds: Pro tip for joint pain - boswellia.

I was around 49-50 bpm before surgery

Sitting at 70 now, but that should change with rehab and increasing cardio.

Soreness is stretching and yoga.

Most of my joint pain is caused by unbalanced muscles. Yoga seems to get those squared away.

I'm not too old yet either. Most of my joint pain came from being tackled by and tackling large men, when I was younger. Didn't really hurt at the time, but started taking it's toll in my thirties. My queen (nickname for wife of) finally convinced me to start doing yoga. Nothing has helped my body like yoga. I've had some knee injuries, but I think a lot of my knee pain was coming from my hips. The hip openers in yoga have been a game changer. Plus, it's really good for overall well being, mentally and physically.

glucosamine chondroitin help as an add on.

Truth be told, APM has eased off on the running and increased the stretching and isometrics in preparation for his next black belt graduation. Running is the enemy of middle-aged flexibility.

The heart rate thing I think has to do to with the isometrics I have been doing.

Good luck with your test. I was into that when I was younger. Made to Sandan (3rd degree in our art). It was a lot of fun. You doing it when you are a little older (and probably sorer) is impressive.

Yes. This is a great place for nature walks, forest bathing, hikes, waterfalls with negative ions, etc...

Made my wife sick. She found there is a very narrow sweet spot between between enough to do any good and puking your guts out. For anemia anyway

I need to get faithful on my iso to get my bp down.

I wish I could do Tai Chi- I’ve tried a couple of times, last time I took a class the leader put me in the back because my uncoordinated self was confusing everyone else
I have zero kinesthetic intelligence

Another important thing to do as you age is to try to balance. If you are not good at this, close your eyes and try to balance on one leg. If you haven't done this in a while, you may not be able to do it for lot. If you can, that's a good sign. If you can't, start out by steadying yourself with a chair and work your way into doing it without a chair .

Obviously, don't try this if you have certain physical impairments.

I have and by the time I get up out of the floor, I’m 2 moves behind

When I was younger, I was a scrawny, clumsy, inflexible, uncoordinated beanpole. Now I’m a fat, clumsy, inflexible, uncoordinated lardass.

It's important to have the right teacher and go to the right class. You definitely don't want to end up in an advanced or intermediate class if you are a beginner. I like deep stretch the best, but I like Yin as well. Yin is basically very light stretching, but you hold the stretch longer and it focuses on the breathing.

I'm usually in the mid to high 60s. When I was in really good shape, I usually hovered around the mid 50s.

Cod liver oil is good for joint pain. It's good for overall inflammation and has great benefits for your heart.

but can also be in the high 50's. I suck at sleeping and there is a direct correlation between resting heart rate and quality of sleep.
