FSU Roster Return

Remember this FSU team brought back around 87% of its roster back. Something like that.
Therefore, they beat LSU and automatically get driven up to #3.
But I have a question. Clemson won the game last year pretty handedly in Tallahassee, until very late when there was even too little time for FSU. But we controlled that game against 87% of the same team, with Jordan Travis.
That was not even in Death Valley. And it was at night, on a huge stage. And we came up big.
Who are the most important losses from last year for Clemson? Some D-Line, nothing we haven’t looked like we’ve replaced. Clemson has a better secondary this year. Clemson has a better QB this year. Clemson Receivers have improved a little. And running backs look solid.
I expect to win vs FSU.
But folks this will be a hard season. A fun one I promise you, but lots of pressure. Drake Maye looks fantastic. FSU does look good. Miami looks really good. Duke looks good. Notre Dame looks good.
What I want from this season is that we get back on track against relevant programs. I want to beat FSU. I want to beat ND. I want to beat everyone, but winning against those teams is what will prove that we haven’t gone anywhere.

And roar back (pun intended) with decent 2nd halves. The Tajh Boyd / Sammy / Nuc era felt similar, but not the same. These fans need to unspoilt themselves, and enjoy football. I hate every bad play we make. But I love Clemson Football.
Never know what'll happen down the line. I'm rooting for these boys

Trending in the wrong direction

Under the normal circumstances I'd agree.
But, these aren't normal circumstances. It seems Clemson has regressed with each passing season. Even though experience/talent would indicate at least a slight improvement over last year's team. Coaching, and player development seem to be trending in the wrong direction, again. Have you seen a single starter from last year who looks better?
Can you point to a single position group where we look better?
I hope you're right, but don't share your optimism.

That’s better than most any 3 year run in Clemson history with the exception of 2nd, 1st, 4th from 2015 thru 2017.
We’re 5th in P5 wins over the last two seasons and 4th in the last 3.
We’ve played two games this season, and we’re 7th in ohhense and 8th on defense.
What I saw Saturday was better play from every position group. Not sure what the heck you watched.
Duke was a fluke, obviously. We won the 2nd half 42-0 last Saturday. Seems like we may be getting the system down.
Your “regression” is grossly exaggerated.

I have to disagree that Duke "beat us down like stray dogs". We killed ourselves. 3 more TDs and we win handily. We won just about every statistcal category...i know points matter the most but we controlled the large majority of that game (part of the reason why everyone was so shocked). Take the emotion out of the game and it wasnt as bad as we think. We haven't looked great at times but we are dealing with a few growing pains. We have potential but we win 8/10 times we play that game imo. Beaten down like stray dogs is a bit of an exaggeration.

First Downs - Advantage Clemson 29-17 Total Yards - Advantage Clemson 422-374 Passing Yards - Advantage Clemson 209-175 Rushing Yards - Advantage Clemson 213-199 Penalties - Advantage Clemson 1/5 - 7/45 Time of Possession - Advantage Clemson 33:33-26:27 Fumbles Lost - Tied Interceptions - Advantage Duke 1- 0
Yes, the definitely beat us "like stray dogs" and were not, in any way, the beneficiaries of flukes. And, btw, there was no kick-six in the game. There was a fumbled recovered at the spot of the fumble - the Duke 18. That does not count as a "kick-six" in any universe.

You think the team that you've watched through 3 games this season looks better than the last two with DJ?
The Duke game was the worst opener I've seen since when we opened against Alabama in ATL. What we saw against Duke was total inept-ness.
Duke wasn't a fluke. They're better than us.
The ONLY improvement you have to point to is against CHS Southern, and FAU. Please excuse my skepticism. Those are both glorified high school teams. Perhaps the reason our "O" and "D" stats look SO good is because 2 of those games?
Your rebuttal is based on a sample size of the two worst teams we play all season. That's not exactly rock-solid analysis. We'll have a much better idea of what kind of football team Clemson has after this weekend.

We never scored 66 points with DJ.
Cade looks better than DJ. Beaux Collins scored an 80 years TD last week basically on his own running after catch.
Our secondary progressed through the year last year, and in my opinion is better than last year. We now have 2 running backs that can pick up 5-6 years each carry.

Secondary Oline Running Backs Dline may not be better, they may be even. Line backing is underperforming, along with wrs. Too many drops

Everyone is paid to dys CCC cause we've made the SEC look foolish, Bama and all! Once upon a time we played jawja with the greatest running back of all time beat him senseless, beat them and went on to win a natty...nobody believed...the talking heads back then said we did not even belong in the Orange Bowl with Nebraska...after the game the narrative changed to we were just a flash in the pan..the ncaa set about to get rid of Danny Ford the day after the Orange Bowl!

he may have thrown passes into the ground (as some on here like to perpetuate),
but at least he didn't just willy-nilly throw passes up into the air for any and all to try to run under, catch, and house.
We can't beat FSU if our Offense is scoring points for the Noles....
(And for those missing the point, there is a healthy dose of sarcasm here - though not all is sarcasm - directed at the multitudes of instant QB Gurus populating this and every other Clemson site for the last two years. May their over-bloated egos have found a h*ll each deserved, and their asinine logic be banished from this world forever.)

Exactly. We primarily saw a decline at QB play, and thats why we finished 13th and 14th

We were one USuC win from the playoffs last year, and the Cade era is just beginning. We absolutely still have a chance to win the conference and make the playoffs this year.
Some of these folks act like we’re back to 7-5. Mostly a bunch of whiny quitters though.
