A school wanting to leave must give notice one year in advance. June 30 gives that notice and lets the school play the conference schedule in 2025. It also serves to enable the new conference to add the team to its schedule and it gives recruits notice on where the team will be playing starting in 2026. Plus, if 7 ACC schools want to vote to dissolved the conference, they must do it before June 30 when the other 3 new schools are officially added. If the two schools wanted to wait until Aug. 30, they could. But, I don't think they will cut it that close to being a distraction for the team in the new 2024 season. Best to do it by June 30.
