Dabo took over a program that averaged 34th in recruiting rankings and you can't even compute the average AP final rank because it went twice without a single vote over the preceding five years. Even if he loses out the program is still on better footing than when he found. So how exactly are you computing "back 20 years?" Or did you just make it up because you're an upset little snowflake convinced you deserve something that you play no actual part in?

We've replaced 11 and 12 EXPERIENCED players with 2,3 and 4 years under the program with Freshman each of the last cycles respectively. That's a fact. Not an opinion. And it'll continue unless we recruit the portal with as much intensity as high school.

So you admit the range should be 10-12 not 10-20? That’s a start. Now tell us how many of those 10-12 would have been of any benefit had they stayed? Last time I did this exercise, I came up with 2 - max. But please, keep getting worked up about things that aren’t part of the problem.

It’s not and you are admittedly engaging in hyperbole. The portal is set to contract, not expand, as bonus covid eligibility finally works its way out of the system. And the NCAA enforcing restrictions (sitting out a year) on second time FBS to FBS transfers is going to further dampen its use. The “portal” is a made up boogeyman. What mattered all along was the waiving of transfer restrictions concurrent with a year of bonus eligibility for everyone on campus in 2020. That’s has flooded the system.

The portal is not a magic elixir. Lincoln Riley made use of it at Southen Cal. They have already lost two games, and are probably going to lose a couple more. They aren't even in the Top 20, much less a national championship contender.

No, I understand it perfectly. I just deal with reality, and don't believe in fairy tales.
The ultimate issue is that Clemson doesn't have the advantages in recruiting that we did years ago, and that's the reason we aren't getting the same level of talent that we did before. You still have to recruit with the portal, just like with high schoolers.

Our problem, in particular, is that we need gamebreaking wide receivers. We need some Sammy Watkins or Tee Higgins guys. Teams like Georgia, Alabama, Ohio St., aren't getting guys like that from the portal. They pretty much have that already. They are mostly getting complementary guys to bolster what they already have.
We aren't in a position to just bolster what we already have. We need more than that, and we aren't getting that in the portal.

You do realize that “the portal” is just a term for how students declare their intention to transfer correct? As such there are x number of player eligible, period. That number is currently all players who stepped on campus in 2018 and have played 4 or less years (+\- ones that didn’t play in 2020). Next year it be all those who came in 2019 and have only played 4 or less years. And in 2025 it will be everyone from 2020. Simultaneously, in 2025, everyone who stepped on campus in 2021 also loses their eligibility. Poof. The entire eligible population of “Muh Portal” shrinks by a minimum of 20%. Now factor that players can no longer make more than 1 transfer between D1 schools with out losing eligibility and yes, the portal will be far less significant in the very near future.

He’s also paid that with the expectation that we will continue to be an elite program. And if we are being honest, we haven’t been elite since 2020.
At some point, this “we’re not worthy to have Dabo” attitude has to collide with the realization that we are on a streak of declining play and underachieving results.
We are all grateful for what Dabo did, but those amazing accomplishments are becoming more and more in the past.
This is very much a “what have you done for me lately?” business. There is too much money for it not to be.

If you are talking about looking for another head coach, then he has a lifetime contract as far as I am concerned. Us as fans have every right to complain about his decisions and those of his staff. We can second guess and talk about all the times that we were right, but we quickly forget when we were wrong.
I don't expect to see us at the heights that we were at 5 years ago, but I am alright with that. I'll voice my disappointment and my disagreements, but in the end I will ride with Dabo as long as he wants to pilot this ship.
