Pounding running back (Jay) Finally!

Nov 25, 2013, 10:40 AM

Smart move Morris
Honestly, Boyd is running harder than our backs right now
we need a north runner.. A pounder, someone that is not afraid to run somebody over. No offense to our other backs but for those 3 and 5 runs and goal line. That is what we need

Bringing back the old days of Tracy Johnson baby!!!!!

Hopefully, Hot Rod can cut out the dancing for one game

Nov 25, 2013, 10:43 AM

and just take the extra 1,2, or 3 yards instead of dancing to get another 4 or 5 and getting pushed back.

will be very interesting to see if we roll this out on

Nov 25, 2013, 10:44 AM

Saturday night. I almost think it will be more of putting a "big back" in backfield to chip on Clowney and thier pass rush. They are going to bring a heavy pass rush at us regardless if its Clowney or not. Our OL has shown that it can get frustrated early.

I personally think its a way of getting two big TE type bodies on the field without giving up much of your playbook or having to do an odd formation.

Honestly I think we see a lot of Darrel Smith at H-Back to help with Clowney, I think we will see a lot of 2 TE formations with Seckinger on the LOS and Darrel Smith at H-Back

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

It sounds to me like Clemson's coaching staff is trying to find creative ways to fill in the gaps made by missing out on Gurley in last year's recruiting efforts.

I appreciate the effort, but hope it doesn't back fire on Clemson with a costly fumble.

If a bigger back is used primarily as a blocker, then that should help give Boyd some extra time. I would like to see them call a lot of bootlegs too, with Boyd rolling out away from Clowney. I think if they did that with our talent/depth at WR, then they should be successful.

Don't run wide away from him as he runs those down. The thing to do is quick stuff just inside him. Run at him!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think you are insinuating

Nov 25, 2013, 12:11 PM

that Zac Brooks hasn't run with authority. When given the opportunity I thought he ran VERY hard. Mucollough looked good and has a big frame which we haven't seen for a LONG time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brooks is hurt again and likely out for this game***

Update from Morris says he'll "probably" dress. Play not

Nov 25, 2013, 12:29 PM

certain - as needed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Coolgroove-- no i really like Zac but

Nov 25, 2013, 1:24 PM [ in reply to I don't think you are insinuating ]

for some reason we've lost the Hardnose running attitude
even Brooks changed his style a little bit. Too much dancing. Davidson does a wonderful job but he is not heavy enough or strong enough to drop those shoulder pads.. Please forgive me for saying this but I want the Gurley/ Davis style running back in our back field..A running back that can guarantee 5 to by just dragging people by himself. Athough Spiller and Ellington would juke you but could still run you over if they needed to. Just Saying

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think that is how they envision

Nov 25, 2013, 1:37 PM

Tyshon Dye. He came in at 215 so the groundwork is there to add some lbs. I do know what you mean though. I thought that is what we were getting when Jamie Harper was here but when he looked in the mirror he saw CJ Spiller and not a guy who was 230 with legit speed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Extra effort from the line to give all the backs a sliver of

Nov 25, 2013, 12:26 PM

light to run through will help too!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I like it, but you fear ball control issues at this point.

Nov 25, 2013, 12:40 PM

If they are going to consider using him this week then they need to make him carry a football all around campus and send a memo out to the student body dor all of them to try and knock it out when they see it.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't think I would advise a student to do that.

Nov 25, 2013, 1:12 PM

I do share your concerns.

Brooks will not be 100% so we need not use him. JJ the best option and it is not like he has not played rb before. SC is vulnerable to the run.

Does anybody have clips of the Jay Jay runs?******
