Did anyone see the ACC network show

about both Trevor and Deshaun getting screwed out of the Heisman trophy at least once. I truly believe Derrick Henry was deserving. Deshaun was good but lost the head to head and Alabama was the better team. That had been the criteria for years before as I can remember.

but the very next year the standards changed. DW4 was the frontrunner and the media (who has these votes) did everything they could make him fail. Even at the award ceremony I remember the commentators making fun of his Crimson Red suit. He wore that because that was his High Schools team mascot. the 3 that won while DW4 was being screwed? Bayfield and Jackson who he was 3-0 against.

It's absolutely ridiculous. but it is what it is.

Trevor, that's another story. I'm sure he was deserving of it his Freshman year. No other QB in the nation could've done what he did to Alabama as a 18 year old. HOnestly, did trevor even win the Davey O'Brien award? I think Deshaun did. the show concluded with one or both were definitely cheated out of an award. the reason? who knows. but I think prejudice the state of south Carolina and politics.

But guess what reporters, voters, thou mighty media sports education writers, analysts, commentators, spectators, DW4 and TL16 will make so much more money than you ever will with that lazy borderine weird Media Ed degree.

Heisman voting takes place before the playoffs, so those games never factor in.

Just look at the numbers objectively... at the time of the Heisman voting

Deshaun (13 games): 3,914 yards passing, 37 TDs, 15 INTs
529 rushing yards, 6 TDs
4,443 total yards, 43 TDs, 15 INTs

Lamar (12 games): 3,390 yards passing, 30 TDs, 9 INTs
1,538 yards rushing, 21 TDs
4, 928 total yards, 51 TDs, 9 INTs

Lamar deserved to win the Heisman. He was the best player in college football that year.

Why they don't vote after ALL the games are played, I'll never understand. Makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense. Not everybody gets into a bowl, or playoff game.

The NFL does the exact same thing.

Slow start to the season really hurt Watson that year

along with a ton of turnovers. 15 INTs is a ton for an elite QB, and I think he had a few lost fumbles too. He had 4 turnovers in the big Louisville game and we still managed to win.

McCaffrey should have won in 2015 IMO. I would've had CM #1, Watson #2, and Henry #3.

You're right.

Slow start + turnover bug killed Deshaun's chances at winning the Heisman.

All that really matters is that he was elite against Alabama.

Spiller didn't even get invited and the reason they used was because Clemson lost too many games.

That reason went out the window for Lamar.

Jackson was 9 and 3 regular season including a loss to Houston 36-10. He also lost the rivalry game with Kentucky.
Loiisville padded Jackson early season stats running up the scores.
No doubt Jackson was a flashy player. Who was the winner on the field? This usually doesn't matter to Heisman voters who watch ESPN highlight packages and don't see the actual games.

The Heisman has no criteria for winning

It's supposed to go to the most outstanding player, not the most outstanding player on the best team. It drives me crazy that people (including some voters) think the Heisman winner needs to be on a playoff caliber team. If I thought the best player on the country played on a 7-5 team I would vote for him.

It would be unfair if they did. Look at Lamar's roster that year and compare it to Deshaun's.

RB: Wayne Gallman, Tavien Feaster, and Adam Choice
RB: Brandon Radcliff, Jeremy Smith, and Malik Williams

WR/TE: Mike Williams, Artavis Scott, Hunter Renfrow, Deon Cain, Ray Ray McCloud, and Jordan Leggett
WR/TE: James Quick, Jamari Staples, Jaylen Smith, Devonte Peete, Charles Standbury, Cole Hikutini

Defenses weren't even close either. Louisville maybe had 2 guys play in the NFL (Jaire Alexander for sure). That Clemson defense was loaded with talent.

He hurdled a guy and ESPN annointed him. Very annoying.

Show me Lamar's per touch or minute played stats were better. Then you can proclaim him.

Lamar does gave somewhat better per touch stats but Lville played 2 Top 10, 3 Top 25 teams and Clemson played 4 Top 10, 5 Top 25
Counted FSU as Top 10 for both. 3rd vs Lville and 12th vs Clemson.

Don't have minutes played but Lamar had to have more as he wasn't pulled as quick and closer games.

If you look at the stats from cream puff games like v/s Charlotte, Jackson got something like
6 TD's etc. A great many voters dropped their load TOO early. DW got royally screwed that year.

I disagree but not on your stats. I am looking at Lamar's failing will his team to win. He/Louisville lost the head to head to Clemson and it felt like once things pretty much set in place for the CFP Lamar/Louisville coasted to lose the last 2 games of the season to Houston and Kentucky.

To me being the best is having the ability to make your team better and will them to win.

in fact.. he did the following year.

Clemson would not be in the NC w/o Watson.

Paul Hournung won it in 1956 on a 2 and 8 ND team whose wins came against basketball schools Indiana and UNCheat. Johnny Majors finished second on an undefeated Vol team.

Jackson won it after they destroyed FSU, that’s all ESPN talked about for the entire season.
