I've not been on Tnet that long, but I've followed Clemson in general & Clemson football in particular since 1981 when I was a freshman. Not long after discovering Tnet, I became curious about all the talk about the FGF forum and curiousity finally got the better of me, so I went over there to take a look. I've never attempted to post anything over there and I don't intend to, but I've been amazed by some of the things I read over there. I'm also amazed by the fact that it seems like about half of their board is consumed with talking about Clemson. So that's the background on this post.
Two of the more frequent themes on the coot board are 1. Coots need to return to their former glory. 2. Dabo isn't a good Coach. Here are a few historical facts to help shine a little light on those two themes.
Coots began playing football in 1892. They had no team in 1893 or 1906, so that means that they've played 122 seasons. Coots have won 8 bowl games in 122 seasons. Spurrier won 4 of those. Coots first bowl win was in 1994, after 102 years of football. Coots have won zero Major Bowl games (Rose, Cotton, Sugar, Orange & I will include Fiesta) Coots wiinningest Coach in their history is Spurrier. Spurrier had 86 wins in 10 full seasons plus 6 games last year. Now let's compare Dabo to the entire history of the Coots.
Dabo has won 89 games in 8 full seasons plus the seven games he had in 2008. Dabo has won 7 bowl games if you include this year's National Championship as a Bowl game. Dabo has won 4 major Bowl games. 2 Orange Bowls, 1 Fiesta Bowl, 1 National Championship.
I had to look all of this stuff up, because I couldn't believe all of the things I kept reading. I've got it figured out now though........they're crazy. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct answer.

While we've had 5 undefeated seasons (1900, 1906, 1948, 1950, 1981) and NO winless seasons, the dirtpeckers have achieved a near inverse of our success with 4 winless seasons (1892, 1894, 1897, 1999) and NO undefeated seasons.

Spurrier can coach but he had to buy his players. Once that had to stop it was all over. No bag man in rock hill means the players go to Clemson now first and the coots second

If you delete Spurrier's wins from their totals historically then Usuck actually has a losing overall football record. They have won one conference championship (1969) and one division title in the SEC! Other than the streak of recent note their fans have absolutely nothing to cite against Clemson and those who are rational recognize how Spurrier's departure left the program, i.e. quick fixes work only so long and then you are exposed!
Chicken fans love him on one hand and hate his legacy of promises unfulfilled on the other! Muscrap now has a mess to handle and cannot make any meaningful promises of immediate success.

FGF has a newer poster named Cocky Lady who is making a push for dumbest FGF poster. "She" keeps referring to the coots backing it back to the mountain top. Didn't realize that winning a water downed SEC east and getting blown out in the SEC title game was the mountain top.
