dabos decisions

i am a clemson graduate and am proud of the university and what it stands for. i think dabo is going to have to make a couple of decisions pretty soon that have been debated to death on this site. in my opinion the dabate about how many athletes are offered scholarships from grayson high is dabos and his staff to make. they know better than anyone else if a kid can play or should they do it to get the 1 prospect. their necks are in the noose and we can only have 85 at any one time. i dont have a problem with it one way or other. but the matter with sammy is much different imo, and i know much is the same as a coach but if he plays against auburn, to me it is a cop out to suspend him for furman or ball state. it is a decision that will effect dabos legacy and team chemistry. we cant do something just because he is our best player. we must treat him like anyone else would be treated. i just want us to do the right thing and something that will make the university the class place it is. we cant let winning be our moral compass. just my opinion.

do you think Sammy has been sitting in his dorm playing video games waiting on the punishment? I'm Dabo has given him a list of things he is having to do the entire summer. Community service, extra work, etc. who knows what he's been doing to get back in the coaches good graces. Dabo isn't going to let him get off easy. He just hasn't been publishing everything like people would want. So i will let Dabo deal with it how he wants and I really doubt he's letting Sammy off easy. This isn't Spurrierland. Dabo and the coaches are getting it taken care of...screw what anyone outside the clemson opinion is, there will be criticism in either direction.
had this been the week before the auburn game then he would be suspended. but he's had all summer to pay for his mistake. Don't know which is worse.

IMHO, Sammy is doing PTI, i believe community service, whatever else Dabo has asked of him, and honestly admitted he made a bad decision. How long do you keep flogging him? He has no track record of bad behavior. Either don't start him for Auburn or sit one quarter. Enough already.

I believe Dabo is capable of making the right decision on Sammy and have confidence it will work for all. As for Grayson and recruiting ya think he's done all right the last few years and made a few good decisions? Chill!

I don't write on here often but after reading your third sentence I felt like you had disqualified yourself from being taken seriously. I think Dabo has handled the Grayson High talent pool and young Sammy Watkins excellently. What would you have him do? Seriously! Would you sit face to face with Dabo and state your opinions. Would you tell him, hey Coach I graduated from Clemson, don't you think you do it my way? I imagine he would make you feel very small after enlightening you on the facts. Trust your Coach! Has he let you down yet?

We're the ones out there everyday representing Clemson. We have no other "school" to fall back on. And if I could sit in front of Dabo, I'd tell him Sammy should sit out the first game. I would explain to him about what's in them Hills that makes Clemson so special and if Dabo were legit, he'd understand.

if you did something wrong in the spring, would you wait till the fall to take your punishment? he had a list of things to do between the time the infractions occured and the opening of fall camp, and according to dabo, sammy has went above and beyond. he will miss some time,again according to dabo, but how much and when is not our jurisdiction. let the coaches do their job and support their decision.

No man is bigger than an institution. Unfortunately, this issue is not just about Sammy and how he responds to this adversity. It's also about Clemson University and we are ALL stakeholders in Clemson University. This is about values and if we value a win against Auburn over valuing the reputation of Clemson University, than that sux.

call everyone who doesnt post what you want to hear a coot. make you feel better? i am glad you have convinced yourself this is not a problem and he wasnt arrested. you think this was the first time he smoked and used pills? look who his roomate was. do you know why his roomate was sent home from charlotte at the championship game and then sent home? whats your answer to that? how can you pretend we are better than spurrier or others when we do the same thing? and you will be leading the charge on how bad jimbo fisher is when he lets his best db play who was just arrested. by the way one thing clemson did teach me was how to think for myself and be realistic and rational. what did they teach you or did you get of edwards middle school? keep om being rational!!

If nothing else makes you happy except his sitting the first game as punishment would you have chosen to chastise him in other ways to go along with missing a game?
If Dabo had him giving 10 hrs/wk since the day of the infraction would that change your mind?

i never said what dabo should do, read the post, just do what is right and in the BEST interest of CLEMSON. i am now and will always be a clemson man. many on here who claim to be clemson men have no idea what it is to be a clemson man and loyal to your university. some on here dont even know what county the university is in. all they want to do is call someone stupid or a coot. all i am saying is we all need to protect the image of the university. as far as knowing how to use a computer, just read some of the post the regulars write!! use reason and logic please. finally, worry about OUR school and to hell with the others.

If I were Dabo I would have him running stadium steps everyday til practice starts. Get him in the best friggin shape possible and get the punishment out of the way at the same time. And I would care less what anybody else thought.
