Yeah, I had also heard the same thing. I guess from Saban's

point of view, you can afford to be more of a conventionalist, when you have scheduling / conf advantages, & when you have a roster of top developed recruits and some of the best depth in D1.

I agree with Dabo...

That's it's part of the game. Where I'll agree with Nick Satan is that When the offense has the ball on the near hash, they had a distinct advantage in getting their guys in vs the Defense.

With what they are packing (if that's what you mean), then of course they do.

Saban has some very valid points and most teams that run

Oct 12, 2012, 8:21 PM

fast tempo spread offenses do it because they have less talent and sub par OL's. Clearly that's not true for ALL programs, but the vast majority.

Offensive schemes can help compensate for weaker talent on offense, but great defenses typically have serious ballers.

The overwhelming majority of NFL QB's spend most of their time under center, not in the shotgun. NFL teams are leery of college QBs from spread/no huddle/shotgun offenses and many, if not most, of the Heisman QBs to be huge busts in the NFL come from such offenses.

I guess he didnt think this out before running his mouth .

Lets say he got a rule change and Bama was behind a TD with 2 min left , what would he do then .

Cry about the rule , dumb a$$ remark .

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clearly he is talking about teams that run it as their base

Oct 12, 2012, 8:53 PM

offense!! Not 2-minute drill or situational!

Fail!!

As usual, ignorance personified. Time is passing you by.***

Well whats the difference , no huddle , quick tempo or 2 min drill .

If you make a rule you cant have a 2 min drill either .

What was he thinking ?????

You must not watch the NFL. So many teams are moving to spread offenses. Tom Brady hasn't taken a snap under center in like 4 years. And RG3 has run the spread since he was in high school and now look at him.

#### Saban

Oct 12, 2012, 9:40 PM

If Saban doesn't like the way the college game is then he should go to the NFL. No wait he already did that and failed misreably.

One of his claims are that he can't substitute his players and they get tired and are more likely to get hurt. I'd agree to slow down the offense if we can institute a weight limit on his players. I think one is more likely to get hurt being mauled by a 320lb lineman than one weighing 265lbs. I'll agree if he agrees, otherwise he can just get his guys in shape to keep up. Plus, he has to agree to 4 year scholarships instead of year to year tryouts.
