AMEN to being a money pit!

But, it keeps the wife and children happy. Probably saves me money on trips, etc.... but I have grown to dislike it.
And I have the snake problem too. Until I put several king snakes in the woods around the house.... now I only get baby king snakes... and those are catch and release.
And when it rains - 100s of frogs at times jump in for an ####.

Get a grabber thing also after you get rid of this one put lime powder out around the pool every so often and that will keep them away.

Put the Loose red one right on his head.
Problem solved.
Or, dry ice will freeze him to make him docile enough to handle. then sew his mouth shut and use him as a house pet.

I keep a four foot wooden pole with a hook on the end to pull out the skimmer. No surprise that way and you can throw the skimmer away and replace it with a new one. Seriously though, get a round 2 inch or so diameter pole and screw a hanging hook on it. Good to sling the snakes away.

signed old wives is right.....they can bite anywhere anytime. Most people think snakes are as scared of you as you are of them.
That doesn't apply to moccasins....they are extremely territorial and curious. They will try to get in the boat with you.....and come after you

This one chased my grandchildren out of the creek a few weeks ago. I've doubted it was a moccasin for the length of it but from all the photos I find on the web it appears to be the real deal. The head got smashed in the ruckus so I couldn't identify it with the mouth.
What do you think?

No it's in the vac with some water in it and doing just what a water Moc does, swimming on top of the water with it's head up ready to bite me if it can.

Where do you live? Cottonmouths do not live in most of SC above Columbia and they usually are found in swamps and ditches, they do not like open bodies of water like lakes, ponds, and swimming pools.

My bad I should have read the whole thread but you are correct Cottonmouths do not live above Cola and most people are looking at water snakes and calling them cottonmouths BUT a snake is a snake
