They have regressed on both sides of the ball. Hitting has not improved since the program started. 8ks, 6 hits and 4 errors is comical! At this rate wouldn’t make it out of a regional. Need hitting help.

A ton of work. We've lost 2 games to what will most likely be middle pack sec teams. Really disappointed we couldn't get the games with Utah or Auburn. Thought we had a signature win against Oregon but that's proving to not be the case.
Something is off with Valerie. Both pitching and hitting. I pray she's not hurt like 2 years ago.
Errors and fielding you hate to see but that's correctable, especially early season. But we're a bad hitting team. Sadly it appears Rittman didn't bring in power hitting. It's looking like below avg compared to the two last season.. at least last season they were stellar defensive players.
But if you take away the mizzou st hs stats, the 5-9 hitters only have 5 scattered hits through today's game and 3 rbi's. Our 1-4 hitting has been very spotty, especially considering the weak to average competition we've faced this year. Time for Clemson media to ask tough questions.

You are exactly right . This team feasts on mediocre pitching which obscures their overall offensive numbers, but they really struggle against quality pitching. I was hoping that as the softball program has progressed that they would be better at the plate, but their are way too many holes in this lineup.

Yep. That's pretty much been the story since inception with this program. The hitters feast against middle-of-the-pack ACC teams and anything equivalent or less, but when an elite team like Florida State, Oklahoma, or any one of a number of SEC teams shows up, it's like night and day and the whole lineup disappears. Was hoping this could be the year the Tigers close that gap between themselves and those powerhouse teams that they haven't been able to get over the hump against, but it's been a tough start thus far. Not giving up at all, still very early, but substantial improvement needs to be made.

yep, they havent hit well against quality pitching the last couple of years but you kind of expect that vs quality pitching. What they have had in the past that's kept them competitive in those games has been stellar defense and quality pitching of their own. So far this season, dont see much of either which doesnt bode well moving forward vs above avg teams but it's early so who knows.
