Clemson is a fishing school.

Andy Montgomery, degree in engineering from Clemson, is one of the best bass fisherman in the world. He's fishing in the knockout round of the MLF tourney on St. Lawrence River today. You can follow all the action streaming live on majorleaguefishing.com.
If you want to see guys catch an amazing amount of fish, watch it for sure.
Andy has to finish in top 8 (38 anglers) to advance to championship round.
Besides being a Clemson guy, Andy is one of the nicest guys on tour. (Right up there with Ott Defoe, Mark Rose, Edwin Evers)

as a former FLW angler, I can verify you're right

Andy is a class act. I fished with him on Lake Murray and Lake Lanier on 4 occasions and still stay in touch from time to time. While I'm not a fan of the MLF model of "every fish counts" I still fish MLF/BFLs in two divisions and can't think of a better fishing organization.

I understand it is different. I love it. Love the live scoring so the fans and the anglers can know exactly where they stand. Yesterday, for example, Andy knew exactly where he was in the standings. And, he delivered a classic line: "You couldn't drive a 10 penny nail up my butt with a sledge hammer right now."
I also love the "every fish counts" model. One bad day doesn't knock you out of the tourney. (Terry Scroggins was way down in the standings after day one, then caught 100 lbs yesterday to move well inside the top 20.)

I’d have to buy a bigger freezer if I caught 100 pounds in a day. I could break my record of eating fish from Hartwell and Keowee for 28 straight days after that haul.

My parents live on Lake Marion here in South Carolina and my dad is friends with a few pros and a bunch of guides. It’s amazing how bass fishing today has become about the technology and science. Temperature gages, color charts, 21+ foot bass boats with more technology than a World War II destroyer! Ir Apollo capsule! LOL
Bass fishing used to be an art, now it’s science! It kind of reminds me of old-school NASCAR versus today.
Here in Charleston these guys that fish in billfish tournaments Subscribe to a service that provides up to the minute satellite photos showing the temperature breaks.
Saltwater or freshwater, there’s one thing that has and always will be true, find the bait and you will find big fish!
I remember when I was a kid the day after Christmas my dad would jump in his truck and start cruising the neighborhood looking for people throwing out their Christmas trees so we could use them to make crappie beds. Now you can go online and buy these crazy contraptions.

I admire someone that sits in a boat with a rod in his hand and has more patience than me.

That’s why they call it fishing, not catching.
But there are few things more fun and exciting than being in the middle of a school of fish during a feeding frenzy.

Andy in a battle. 90 minutes to go and he's 12th. Top 8 advance.

What a heartbreaker for Andy. Caught 5 fish in last 30 minutes to move to 7th. Two guys passed him in the last 4 minutes.
Ouch!

fishing gene completely missed me. I was so bad at it that I sold my bass boat and all my fishing gear over 35 years ago.
I don't think I could catch fish out of a barrel if I tipped it on its side.
