CLEMSON FOOTBALL IS THE ONLY PROGRAM

That finished in the Top 25 in the nation in all respective polls without using the transfer portal. That means that Clemson finished with a higher ranking than a great number of schools who attempted to build a championship or playoff contender through the portal. I will repeat it for the deaf folks in the back of the room so that there's an understanding here.
1. YOU DO NOT NEED THE PORTAL UNLESS YOU LACK DEPTH AT A SPECIFIC POSITION DUE TO INJURIES.
2. YOUR SUCCESS OR FAILURE DEPENDS ON THREE THINGS.
a. CULTURE
b. SOLID HONEST RECRUITING
c. COACH AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Those are the 3 key ingredients for building a consistent championship program. People will eventually see the flaws of using the portal and by then it may be too late for a program. Therefore, Coach Swinney who understands this concept will build success through being consistent in his approach of recruiting quality players, developing them to be successful both on and off the field, and strict adherence to a culture that he himself developed. Mark my words ladies and gentlemen, if Coach Swinney remains at Clemson, then expect many national championships for the duration of his tenure. Especially since the expansion of the playoff. All Clemson has to do is win the conference which is very feasible. NIL and Portal be ######, Clemson will see a ton of success with Swinney's formula.

They weren't on the playing roster. Nor were they recruited from the portal. They were notified and a natural transfer happened for the two graduate students that would attend Clemson as Graduate Assistants /players. So, that doesn't really count as recruiting from the portal.

For decades the players have transferred via the portal. But it's not a transfer as it is being used today. They never played.

So you don’t want Clemson to make their team better? I have read enough threads and posts to know that Clemson, much like Ohio State needs a better offensive line. Doesn’t Dabo owe it to his players to make his team the best it can be? There will always be misses in recruiting. There will always be players than don’t pan out or don’t have the incredible desire it takes to be one of the best at their position. The portal, whether you love it or hate it, is a way to improve the team.

I see what you’re saying, but I think Dabo went about it the right….got a proven OL coach before dumping players and getting new ones. Pretty good leadership move not to mention a better one in the long run. If we happen to get good OL players from the portal….we’ll have the OL coach to develop them…..would suck to snag out the portal and can’t do anything with em.

I can’t believe despite all the data right in front of peoples face that they’re still people who think you don’t need to use the portal.
I’m not calling out anybody even the OP but if you have a similar thinking as the OP then you’re not very bright.
We have 4/5 years worth of data now. Before transfer portal… we were on top. Since transfer portal… we have steadily decreased and lost all of our streaks in the process.
Every national champion since the introduction of the portal has used the portal and he starters from it. It doesn’t take a genius to see that you can’t win it all without the portal.
Claiming a top 25 finish without using the portal is the standard now? When we’re used to top 5 finishes and playoff berths? lol if you can’t see it by now then you’re a complete moron. I mean that in general and not directed toward anybody specific.
Other teams are using the portal like Michigan who has replaced us as one of the top 4 annually. So it’s good enough for literally everybody else… Georgia/Ohio St/Alabama/Michigan… the top teams in the land but it’s not good enough for a program that just finished 9-4 and barely inside the top 25 yet we have people celebrating this.
I’m so tired of this argument a this is the last I’ll speak on it. You have to use the portal… period end of story. Unless you don’t want to compete for the national championship.
You can preach culture all you want but UGA has a culture of thugs and rule breakers yet they’re competing for and winning national titles. Michigan cheated their @ss off but they just won a title. Neither of these 2 have our culture yet somehow are more successful than us since the new world of college football started.
If you can’t see it you just don’t want to see it or admit it and in that case you are a moron. Who cares about culture when you’re paying the HC over 11 mill a year. Who gives a s*it? I care about winning titles. National titles not ACC titles.
I’m not a win at all costs guy but good lord the portal is available and legal to help but we refuse so basically we’re playing with 1 arm tied behind our back which is self imposed penalties which is just moronic.
Don’t talk to me how we offered 3/4 guys this year… that was just Dabo doing that to shut everybody up… he was never actually serious about recruiting them he just wants everybody around him to shut up about the portal bc let me guess… 2024 is going to be the year we return to glory lol. No it’s not.

Ok so Georgia didn’t for one.
Last I checked they’ve had the #1 or 2 recruiting class for like the past 7 years.
We’re not even in the same stratosphere as them recruiting wise.
If we had classes like that consistently then yeah I could see not using the portal but that’s certainly not the case.

Only 4 teams made the playoffs. Each of those teams utilized the portal. I had rather use the portal and be a contender, than just sneak into the top 25.

How many TFP athletes were Starters on the playoff teams, and Truly contributed to their regular season and Bowl season wins?
